Indian two-wheeler manufacturer TVS has announced its revised prices for their electric scooter, the iQube. The iQube is now priced at Rs 1 lakh (on-road, Delhi), whereas the cost of the electric scooter is Rs 1.10 lakh (on-road, Bangalore). At present, the iQube is only available in Delhi and Bangalore. Previously the TVS iQube was dearer by Rs 11,250 more than its current price.
Powering the iQube is a 4.4kW motor that produces 6bhp and 140Nm of torque. TVS claims that the iQube can accelerate from 0-40km/h in 4.2 seconds and has a limited top speed of 78km/h. It consists of 3 Li-ion battery packs that offer a total claimed range of 75km on a single charge. Also, to charge the iQube from empty to 80% takes just 5 hours via the TVS SmartXHome wall-mounted charger. Charging the electric scooter to full is covered in just under 7 hours.
The FAME II (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles in India) is the governing body that oversees the transaction of private and commercial mobility towards battery-powered vehicles in India. This body had recently announced a subsidy on electric two-wheelers by 50 percent to Rs 15,000 per kWh. This change in the amendment has resulted in significant price reductions of electric two-wheelers.
TVS announced that they are currently working on making the iQube available in over 20 cities in India by 2022. Also worth noting is that TVS has signed an n MoU with Convergence Energy Services to set up public charging infrastructure across the country.
