Volkswagen India has launched its first offering from their India 2.0 program with the all-new Volkswagen Taigun. The Taigun is offered at an introductory price of Rs 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The mid-size SUV is available in two distinct variant lines – Dynamic Line and Performance Line. The Dynamic Line includes three trim levels – Comfortline, Highline and Topline, while the Performance Line includes two trims – GT and GT Plus. Bookings for the Taigun has also begun across Volkswagen dealerships, and 12,221 units have already been booked.

The Volkswagen Taigun is offered with two petrol engines, but no diesel engines are available. The base variant of the Taigun comes with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine which produces 113bhp and 175Nm and is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and a six-speed torque converter automatic. Next, opt for the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, and that makes 148hbp and 250Nm. This engine is paired with a six-speed manual in some variants, while the top-spec variant gets a seven-speed DSG on offer.

On the inside, the Taigun comes quite kitted with technology spread across its variants. It offers a Type-C USB charger, connected car tech, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-inch digital drivers display, ventilated front seats, large sunroof, and climate controls. Furthermore, in terms of safety, the Taigun offers six airbags, TPMS, hill-hold function, rear parking camera, front parking sensors and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
