Now that Maruti Suzuki has unleashed the updated Baleno to decimate its rivals, it was expected that Toyota will follow suit with its updated Glanza. Since Maruti Suzuki and Toyota joined forces together to develop new products, their venture has given us two products so far – the Urban Cruiser and the Glanza. While we can expect the Urban Cruiser to get its much-needed upgrade soon after the facelifted Vitara Brezza arrives on the scene, Toyota is all set to join the party in the meantime with the Glanza. The Japanese carmaker has officially commenced the bookings for the 2022 Glanza which will officially get launched on March 15.
What can we expect from the new Glanza?
Reports suggest that the updated Glanza will also be a petrol-only offering with both automatic and manual transmission options. Toyota has also confirmed that the new Glanza will be offered in four variants – E, S, G and V. Since these variants are expected to be synonymous counterparts of the new Baleno’s Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha variants, we can expect the new Glanza to be priced in the same ballpark as the Baleno. 2022 Glanza’s colour palette will include these shades- red, blue, grey, white and silver.
The previous-gen Glanza and Baleno were borderline doppelgangers but the teaser images have hinted that the new Glanza will have a more differentiated personality. The most striking visual difference is going to be its new set of 16-inch alloy wheels and a completely redesigned front fascia.
Toyota has also made it public that the new Glanza will also retain the new Baleno’s headline features like a 360-degree camera, Head-up display, 6 airbags and connected car tech.
The new Glanza is also expected to be powered by the same K12N petrol engine that puts down 90hp and 113Nm. It can be mated either to a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT gearbox. If you wish to include Baleno’s Japanese cousin in your garage, you can officially book the new Glanza by paying a token amount of Rs 11,000.
