The Toyota Hilux pickup truck is currently enjoying unmatched popularity in the Indian market and guess what? Toyota hasn’t even revealed the price of the Hilux for our market! If you wish to include this ‘invincible’ pickup truck in your garage, we have bad news for you. Toyota has, as of now, stopped accepting bookings for the Hilux. One could previously book this lifestyle vehicle by shelling out a token amount of INR 50,000 online and INR 1 Lakh at authorised dealerships.

As per the Japanese carmaker, the heightened demand for the pickup truck is the primary reason behind this temporary roadblock. But reports suggest that there are various factors contributing to this cause. It is worth noting here that the Hilux will be 30 percent locally assembled in Karnataka.

This is what the official media statement read: “The iconic Hilux has been recently launched in the Indian market to cater to the needs of customers seeking an incredible lifestyle utility vehicle. We are delighted with the overwhelming response that the Hilux has received from our customers within a fortnight of its launch. In light of various factors impacting our supply, we are unable to meet the heightened demand. Thus, we deeply regret our temporary halt of bookings for the Hilux with a view to avoid any further inconvenience to our customers. We will continue our best efforts to resume the Hilux bookings at the soonest possible opportunity, with our aim to provide the best customer experience.”

Powering the Hilux is a 2.8-litre diesel engine that puts down 204PS and 500Nm (420Nm with the manual gearbox). This tried and tested mill can be paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter AT. The Hilux has some noteworthy off-road credentials like electronic differential lock, automatic hill assist control, downhill assist control, automatic limited slip differential, active traction control and a tyre angle monitor
