We had a chat with Aprilia Racing MotoGP rider Marco Bezzecchi, and CEO for Aprilia Racing in MotoGP Massimo Rivola on the current 2025 MotoGP season. We asked them a few techincal questions and some about the Indian GP. Here's more:
Marco Bezzecchi
Team TG: Looking at the season so far, would you rate yourself as the second-best rider on the grid, considering the bikes in play?
Marco: “It’s difficult to say while the season is still underway. Of course, we’re doing a good job, but I prefer to wait until the end of the season before saying something.”
Team TG: You were the first winner of the Indian GP. What memories stand out from that weekend, and would you like to race there again?
Marco: “I would love to ride there again, of course. It's a track that I really like and winning there was fantastic. I remember that all the fans were super happy, so that’s definitely my best memory from there.”
Team TG: From your perspective, what are the main areas where Aprilia needs to improve to close the gap to Ducati?
Marco: “We still need to improve a little bit, but the base of the bike is really good now. We won’t stop working — the goal is to keep going in this direction and continue improving every aspect”.
Massimo Rivola
Team TG: Given Aero's significant role in this generation of bikes, is the learning from this process helping shape the 2027 machine, despite regulations limiting aero?
Massimo: “Aerodynamic will still be very important in 2027 with the new regulations. What we are learning now will be useful to the future bike, because it’s not just about pure performance but it's also about the concept. So yes, the answer is definitely yes”.
Team TG: How do you see the switch to Pirelli tyres affecting things, and what’s the plan to adapt?
Massimo: “I think this is the first time we’re completely changing the bike, the engine, and the tyres together. It's actually quite risky in a way. Normally, tyres are the biggest change on a bike, so this is definitely a big challenge. But I think the company now is structured to collect all the data properly and put them in performance and set-up of the bike”.
Team TG: Would you like to see the Indian GP return to the calendar, and is there a message you’d like to share with Aprilia fans in India?
Massimo: “Absolutely, we would love to come back to India. The first year we went there was great, lots of people, lots of passion, and a very warm welcome for all the teams. It’s a pity we’re not going this year, and I hope a solution can be found. India is super strategic market for the motorcycle word and obviously for us as well”.
