Two Tata SUVs Reign Supreme as India's Favorite | Brezza, Venue, Sonet, and Creta Left Behind

Before we reveal which two SUVs, hear this out - the Tata Nexon continues its dominance in the Indian car market, clinching the title of the best-selling utility vehicle (UV) for a remarkable third year in a row! This news comes amidst a booming SUV market, where utility vehicles now account for nearly 60% of all passenger vehicles sold in India in the financial year of 2024

Nexon Holds Tight to the Crown

With an estimated 171,697 units sold between April 2023 and March 2024, the Nexon maintains its position at the top. This versatile SUV offers a choice of petrol, diesel, and even electric powertrains, catering to a wide range of customer preferences. While sales dipped slightly compared to FY2023 (172,138 units), the Nexon's reign remains unchallenged.

A New Challenger Emerges: The Tata Punch Packs a Punch!

This year's story gets even more interesting with the rise of another Tata Motors' SUV - the Tata Punch. This newcomer swiftly climbed the ranks, surpassing the previously second-placed Maruti Brezza with a staggering 170,076 units sold. The Punch's success can be attributed to its recent launch in CNG and electric variants, offering greater fuel efficiency and eco-friendly options to buyers. Its impressive March 2024 sales of 17,547 units even made it the best-selling passenger vehicle across all categories in India for that month!

Close Call for the Brezza

The Maruti Brezza, a strong contender for the top spot, had to settle for third place this year with 169,896 units sold. However, it's important to note that the Brezza maintained its ranking from FY2023 (145,665 units) and even saw a healthy sales increase of 17%.

Hyundai Creta Holds Onto Fourth Place

The Hyundai Creta, which previously held the second spot in FY2023 (150,372 units) and FY2022 (118,092 units), finds itself pushed back to fourth place in FY2024. Despite a strong performance of 162,773 units (its best ever!), the dominance of the compact SUVs Nexon and Punch has shifted the rankings. The launch of the new Creta in mid-January 2024 did manage to boost its sales, but it wasn't enough to dethrone the top contenders.

The Indian SUV market is witnessing a thrilling battle, with strong customer demand for compact SUVs. This competition is pushing manufacturers to innovate and offer a wider range of options, ultimately benefiting Indian car buyers.
