It’s black. It’s bold. And it’s back—this time with a little more variety. Nissan has officially launched the 2025 Magnite Kuro edition in India, priced from Rs 8.31 lakh to Rs 10.87 lakh (ex-showroom). Based on the higher-spec N-Connecta variant, the Kuro slots just below the Tekna and Tekna+ trims, offering a sweet spot for those who want style without the top-spec price tag.
What’s New with the Kuro?
Unlike the previous iteration, which was content with a single, turbocharged identity, the new Magnite Kuro democratises its charm. Buyers now have a choice between the familiar 72 bhp 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and the 100 bhp 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Gearbox options include a 5-speed manual, AMT, and for the turbo variants, a CVT.
For reference, the Kuro variants carry a premium of Rs 34,000 over the standard N-Connecta trims. However, they still undercut the Tekna and Tekna+ by Rs 61,000 and Rs 96,000, respectively. This makes it a compelling choice for those who want the visual drama without stretching their wallet.
All-Black Everything
True to its name, the Kuro edition wears a blacked-out suit. From the 16-inch alloy wheels and roof rails to the grille and skid plates, everything is finished in a dark hue. Even the LED headlights receive a black tint, accompanied by the added flair of sequential turn indicators. The only thing breaking the monotony of black is the badge—because Nissan probably thought debadging it entirely would be a bit too much.
For those who find black a little too dark, Nissan has added a new Metallic Grey shade to the N-Connecta, Tekna, and Tekna+ variants.
Interior: Black is the New Black
Inside, the Kuro continues the theme with a blacked-out dashboard, gear lever, steering wheel, doors, and even the sun visors. It’s all quite moody. Thankfully, Nissan has incorporated some practical features, including a wireless charger and a dashcam, now part of the package. However, features like cruise control, 360-degree camera, automatic LED projector headlights, and cooled glove box are still exclusive to the Tekna+.
Powertrains and Performance
-
1.0-litre NA petrol – 72 bhp, 96 Nm, with 5-speed manual or AMT.
-
1.0-litre Turbo petrol – 100 bhp, 152 Nm (manual) / 160 Nm (CVT).
While it’s not going to win any drag races, the turbo-petrol with the CVT should make for a nippy urban runabout. The naturally aspirated version is best for those who prefer calm commutes over outright pace.
For Rs 8.31 lakh, the Magnite Kuro offers more flair and a few handy features over the N-Connecta. It doesn’t pretend to be a Tekna+ and that’s fine. What it does is bring a stealthy, stylish option for buyers who like their crossovers with a touch of Gotham.
