BMW iX3 M60 xDrive Revealed With 612 HP, 754 km Range and 400 kW Charging

The electric performance SUV gets dual motors, M-specific styling, adaptive M suspension and a claimed 0–100 km/h time of 3.9 seconds.

BMW has unveiled the new iX3 M60 xDrive, the most powerful variant of its all-electric iX3 SUV and a new addition to the brand’s M Performance lineup. Featuring an electric motor at each axle, the SUV produces a maximum output of 450 kW (612 hp) and 875 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and has a claimed WLTP range of up to 754 km. The BMW iX3 M60 xDrive also features an 800V electrical architecture, a maximum DC charging rate of 400 kW and a range of chassis upgrades aimed at delivering a sportier driving experience. Orders are scheduled to open at the end of January 2027, with production set to begin in spring 2027 at BMW Group Plant Debrecen in Hungary.

Design

Exterior

The BMW iX3 M60 xDrive follows the Neue Klasse design language, combining clean surfaces and sharply defined proportions with styling elements that distinguish it from the standard iX3. The front features BMW’s signature kidney grille with the standard Iconic Glow exterior package, which adds illuminated contours. One of the key identifying features is the new M Yellow Lights, inspired by motorsport design and available in combination with the low-beam headlights, depending on the market.

The front lighting signature also incorporates three distinctive elements on either side of the BMW kidneys, inspired by the familiar M stripes, along with an M logo. The SUV comes with M Sport exterior elements as standard, while the illuminated grille and adaptive lighting functions add to its visual appeal.

In profile, the long wheelbase, short overhangs and sculpted wheel arches give the SUV a muscular stance. Black high-gloss roof rails and aerodynamically optimised M mirror caps, featuring M-colour detailing, further distinguish the M Performance variant. The iX3 M60 xDrive gets 21-inch M light-alloy wheels as standard, while optional wheel choices extend to 22 inches. Specially developed 21-inch sport tyres are also available as an option.

At the rear, pronounced shoulders and a deeply inset glasshouse contribute to its wide appearance. A black diffuser, distinctive rear light signature and an M-specific roof-edge spoiler with two aeroblades complete the design. The spoiler is intended to increase downforce at the rear axle, while an M60 badge with black lettering and a silver surround identifies the performance variant. BMW will also offer an extensive range of exterior paint finishes, including 25 special-request options at launch.

Interior

The cabin of the BMW iX3 M60 xDrive carries forward the Neue Klasse interior design, with a strong focus on driver orientation and digital displays. The centrepiece is BMW Panoramic iDrive, running on BMW Operating System X. The system combines BMW Panoramic Vision, a 17.9-inch central display and an M Sport steering wheel with multifunction controls. A BMW 3D Head-Up Display is available as an option.

The M Sport steering wheel features a red marker at the 12 o’clock position and dedicated buttons for activating Boost Mode and M Mode. Drivers can also select the M Sport and M Sport Plus settings directly from the steering wheel. The M-specific instrument display includes a powermeter showing current power delivery, available power reserves and energy recuperation.

The SUV comes with M Sport seats as standard, featuring pronounced side bolsters for improved lateral support during spirited driving. The seats offer ten-way electric adjustment, lumbar support, adjustable backrest width and thigh support, along with a massage function. Illuminated M logos are integrated into the head restraints, while M seat belts add another performance-oriented detail.

BMW will offer three interior design themes and seven upholstery variants. The standard BMW M interior features black Veganza seat covers with M PerformTex. Buyers can also choose the Contemporary interior in shades including Black, Castanea, Digital White and Agave Green, or opt for the BMW Individual interior, which combines Veganza with Merino leather on the seat cushion surfaces.

Audio is handled by a standard Harman Kardon sound system with 13 speakers and 430 watts of output. It supports Dolby Atmos for a more immersive audio experience. Optional BMW Digital Premium also enables M-specific in-car applications, including the M Cockpit app for displaying vehicle data and the M Drag Meter for monitoring acceleration performance.

Battery and Performance

Powering the BMW iX3 M60 xDrive is BMW’s sixth-generation Gen6 M eDrive electric powertrain, featuring one electric motor on each axle. Together, the motors produce a maximum output of 450 kW (612hp) and peak torque of 875Nm. The SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 240 km/h.

The rear axle uses a newly developed electrically excited synchronous motor (EESM), supported by a more powerful inverter. BMW says the revised motor setup allows for higher peak and continuous power and torque, contributing to the M60 xDrive’s improved performance.

The electric powertrain is paired with a high-voltage battery offering 108.7 kWh of usable energy. BMW claims a maximum driving range of up to 754 km on the WLTP cycle, with combined energy consumption rated at 17.6–20.5 kWh/100 km. These figures are based on the manufacturer’s stated WLTP data and may vary depending on driving conditions, equipment and usage.

Charging is another key part of the package. The SUV supports DC fast charging at up to 400 kW, and BMW claims that a ten-minute charging session at a suitable DC fast charger can add up to 340 km of range. The vehicle also gets AC Charging Professional, with a maximum AC charging rate of 22 kW. Its 800V electrical architecture supports the high charging rate, while the sixth-generation technology also brings bidirectional charging functionality.

Adaptive M Suspension

Beyond its power figures, BMW has equipped the iX3 M60 xDrive with a range of chassis and control-system upgrades. Standard equipment includes adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers, variable sport steering and an electronically controlled M Sport differential at the rear axle.

The suspension adjusts damping according to driving conditions, with the aim of balancing handling precision and ride comfort. The variable-ratio steering is intended to provide a more direct response during dynamic driving while reducing steering effort during low-speed manoeuvres. Meanwhile, the rear differential helps improve traction when cornering and on slippery surfaces.

The SUV also features BMW’s Heart of Joy high-performance computer, working alongside BMW M Dynamic Performance Control. The system coordinates functions related to the powertrain, braking, steering, charging and energy recuperation. BMW says the system processes driving-related information ten times faster than previous systems, helping deliver more immediate and precise responses.

The driver can adjust the vehicle’s behaviour through My Modes, including the M Sport and M Sport Plus settings. A Soft Stop function is also included, using energy recuperation to bring the SUV to a smoother halt. M Sport brakes are standard, with Red and Blue finishes available.

Features and Driver Assistance

The BMW iX3 M60 xDrive comes with SAE Level 2 driver-assistance systems and active safety functions under BMW Symbiotic Drive. Its Motorway Assistant enables hands-free driving on motorways at speeds of up to 130 km/h, subject to the system’s operating conditions and applicable market regulations.

Other equipment includes adaptive headlights, BMW Selective Beam non-dazzling high-beam assistance, a motorway beam pattern and illuminated welcome and goodbye animations. Drivers can choose between Relaxed, Balanced and Excited lighting-animation styles. The combination of digital displays, M-specific driving modes, connected in-car applications and driver-assistance technology gives the SUV a mix of performance-focused and everyday-use features.

Launch Timeline
