Hyundai Bayon India Launch on October 26: 115hp Petrol Engine and AI-Powered Features Revealed

Hyundai Motor India has unveiled the India-spec Hyundai Bayon, with the SUV scheduled to launch on October 26, 2026. Positioned as an Intelligent Utility Vehicle, the Bayon focuses on artificial intelligence, connected technology and an immersive digital cockpit. It will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 115hp and 144Nm, paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). Bookings are now open across authorised Hyundai dealerships and on the company's official website for ₹11,000.

Engine and Transmission

The Hyundai Bayon will be powered by a four-cylinder, 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine producing 115hp and 144Nm of torque. Buyers will have the option of a six-speed manual transmission or Hyundai's Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT).

The combination of a naturally aspirated petrol engine and two transmission options gives customers a choice based on their driving preferences. Hyundai has not disclosed the Bayon's fuel-efficiency figures in the supplied announcement.

Features

The Hyundai Bayon features a digital cockpit built around two 12.3-inch curved panoramic displays. The screens bring together driving information, navigation, entertainment and connected functions, creating an integrated interface for the driver.

The cabin also features Hyundai's Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), accelerated by NVIDIA. The system incorporates advanced graphics, online onboard navigation, split-screen functionality, a personalised control panel and smartphone-like quick controls.

Hyundai has also incorporated individual user profiles and a multilingual interface supporting 10 regional and two international languages. These features are designed to make the vehicle's digital functions more accessible to customers across India.

Technology is the primary highlight of the Hyundai Bayon, with the SUV introducing Hyundai Motor India's first-ever Generative AI Voice Assistant alongside connected services and over-the-air software updates.

Generative AI Voice Assistant

The Bayon introduces Hyundai Motor India's first Generative AI Voice Assistant, featuring Intelligence by Perplexity and Voice AI powered by SoundHound AI.

Unlike conventional voice recognition systems that rely mainly on predefined commands, the assistant is designed to understand conversational requests and provide relevant responses. Drivers can ask it to prepare travel itineraries, provide real-time weather information, suggest hotels and restaurants, recommend nearby shopping destinations, and share sports updates and information.

The system is intended to make interactions between the driver and vehicle more natural while helping occupants access useful information during their journeys.

NVIDIA-Accelerated Connected Car Navigation Cockpit

The Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) combines connected services, navigation and vehicle controls in a unified digital interface. Accelerated by NVIDIA, it offers advanced graphics, online onboard navigation, split-screen functionality and quick-access controls.

The interface is designed to make frequently used functions easier to access while providing an integrated experience across the dual 12.3-inch displays.

Over-the-Air Updates

The Hyundai Bayon supports Controller Over-the-Air (C-OTA) updates for up to 19 vehicle controllers. These updates enable supported software enhancements to be delivered remotely, without requiring a dealership visit for every update.

According to Hyundai, this technology will allow compatible features and software to evolve over time while helping reduce maintenance requirements associated with software updates.

Hyundai Bluelink Connected Features

The SUV will come equipped with Hyundai Bluelink, offering more than 70 connected features. These include remote start and stop, connected vehicle information, remote vehicle controls, smartphone and smartwatch connectivity, location and navigation-related services, and safety and security features.

The connected ecosystem is designed to let owners interact with their vehicle through supported devices, even when they are away from the driver's seat.

Hyundai has incorporated language support to cater to India's diverse customer base. The infotainment and instrument cluster interfaces will support 10 regional and two international languages.

The Bayon will also feature more than 500 embedded voice commands in English, Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, Bengali and Telugu. These commands will allow users to access several frequently required vehicle functions without an internet connection.

Bookings and Deliveries

Bookings for the Hyundai Bayon are now open for ₹11,000. Interested customers can reserve the SUV through Hyundai's official website or at authorised Hyundai dealerships.

Hyundai has stated that deliveries are scheduled to commence during the festive season. Detailed delivery timelines are expected to be communicated at the time of launch.
