Meet the Koenigsegg CCGT1, a tribute to the legendary CCGT race car that never got to compete due to changes in FIA regulations. Based on the Koenigsegg CC850, the CCGT1 is a road-legal Megacar limited to just 70 units worldwide. Here’s everything you need to know about it.
The CCGT1 gets a heavily redesigned body, with only the doors and removable roof carried over from the CC850. Its most striking feature is the huge active rear wing, which can adjust through 30 degrees depending on whether the car needs low drag, extra braking support or more downforce. It is complemented by a large front splitter, active underbody flaps, a sculpted floor and a dedicated rear diffuser. Together, these changes give the CCGT1 a purposeful, race-inspired look while generating up to 800kg of downforce at 250km/h.
The CCGT1 is powered by Koenigsegg’s twin-turbo V8, producing 1,280hp on regular fuel and 1,600hp on E85 fuel. It gets the brand’s Light Speed Transmission (LST) with the new Koenigsegg Sequential Shift (KSS), allowing quick clutchless shifts. For those who want a more traditional experience, the Engage Shift System (ESS) brings a gated six-speed manual shifter with a clutch pedal. It uses six of the LST’s nine gears in manual mode, while the remaining gears can still be accessed through the nine-speed automatic mode.
Inside, the CCGT1 gets a driver-focused cockpit with a covered ignition switch, fuel pump toggle and red starter button. The third-generation Chronocluster puts key information in the driver’s view, while an analogue G-meter sits at the centre. The sequential shifter is positioned close to the steering wheel for quick gear changes, and the standard carbon-fibre seats come with a six-point harness. The optional track package adds racing seats and harnesses for both occupants, along with a fire-suppression system.
Koenigsegg is also offering its first factory-developed track package. It adds a carbon roll cage, HANS-compatible racing seats, race exhaust, air jacks, track-focused suspension and brakes, track tyres and enhanced aerodynamics.
The CCGT1 will be limited to just 70 units worldwide, with all 70 examples already allocated before its public debut.
