Lamborghini restores Miura SV to factory spec

Lamborghini Polo Storico has unveiled a fully restored 1972 Miura SV, returning the iconic supercar to its original factory specification after three years of work.

This is not just a cosmetic refresh. The restoration is based on detailed historical research, starting from original production records to ensure accuracy in every element.

The car arrived in a non-original configuration and was carefully reworked. Exterior details, including the front grilles, rear louvres, and signature design elements, were corrected to match factory specifications. Even smaller components, such as the centre-lock wheels and exhaust tips, have been restored to period-correct designs.

Inside, the cabin has also been brought back to its original layout. This includes reinstating features such as hazard lights, revising the steering wheel, and restoring the correct trim and finishes. The colour combination is particularly noteworthy, with the car finished in “Luci del Bosco” brown and a “Senape” interior, both verified by historical references.

The Miura SV represents the final evolution of what is widely considered the first modern supercar. This restoration underlines its significance, not just as a design icon but as an important part of Lamborghini’s history.

The car was showcased at a concours event in Rome, alongside other classic Lamborghinis, including Countach models and a Miura P400 with cinematic history.

This highlights the increasing importance of factory-backed restoration programmes. Authenticity now carries as much weight as performance once did, especially in the world of classic cars.

For Lamborghini, this is less about nostalgia and more about preservation. Keeping its most important models exactly as they were meant to be.
