Mahindra used Independence Day to do what it does best — make a spectacle of SUVs. This year, the stage was set for a new modular monocoque platform, four futuristic concepts, and, to keep things grounded, a production-ready Batman Edition of the BE 6.
NU_IQ: The base for the future
The star of the show was Mahindra’s NU_IQ platform. It is a modular, monocoque base designed for SUVs measuring between 3,990mm and 4,320mm. Unlike Mahindra’s traditional ladder frames, this one is focused on efficiency, global appeal, and crash safety. The company is targeting 5-star ratings in both the GNCAP and Euro NCAP assessments.
The platform supports petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric powertrains, along with all-wheel drive capability. For EVs, the battery packs from the BE and XEV line-up will be used. Passenger comfort is also a focus, thanks to a flat floor and segment-first pentalink rear suspension.
A new software domain called NU_UX was teased, promising a cleaner user interface, active dampers and variable-ratio steering. Production cars based on this platform are scheduled to arrive in 2027.
Mahindra Vision T: The future Thar

The Vision T concept is a clear descendant of the Thar from 2023, but with more production-friendly cues. It features familiar Thar details, such as bonnet latches, flared arches, and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, while introducing a panoramic sunroof and a digital-first cabin with a portrait touchscreen.
It sits on the longer end of the platform, boasting a 2,665mm wheelbase, which claims best-in-class space while maintaining a 10.3m turning radius. Expected to be electric-first, it could utilise an LFP battery shared with Mahindra’s BE6 and XEV9e. Approach, departure, and breakover angles — 28, 34.9, and 28.2 degrees, respectively — are better than the current class standard.
Mahindra Vision SXT: Pickup with a twist
Unveiled alongside the T, the Vision SXT takes the same bones but adds a short pickup-style rear deck. It looks rugged with off-road bumpers, all-terrain tyres and strapped spare wheels.
Inside, it shares the same minimalistic cabin as the Vision T, complete with the NU_UX interface. The focus is on five-seat practicality rather than cargo hauling. Powertrain options include petrol, diesel, hybrid, ride, and EV.
Mahindra Vision X: Sporty crossover
The Vision X is the compact one, expected to slot below the XUV700 and possibly into the XEV family. Its design is sporty, featuring a coupe-like glass, aerodynamic wheels, and slim LED lighting. Despite being under 4 metres, it still offers the same 2,665mm wheelbase, longer than the XUV 3XO’s.
Inside, there’s a curved screen blending the instrument cluster and infotainment. With its stance and packaging, the Vision X looks like Mahindra’s contender in the crowded sub-compact SUV space.
Mahindra Vision S: Compact Scorpio preview
The Vision S is the one with Scorpio blood. At under 4 metres, it carries upright proportions, heavy cladding and large wheels. Pixel-inspired lighting details and a tailgate-mounted spare give it a familiar but modern look.
The interior has dual screens, a panoramic sunroof and a new steering design. Engine options are likely to include the 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel, with EV and hybrid options also possible. Production is targeted for 2027.
BE 6 Batman Edition: The one you can buy
Among all the futuristic concepts, Mahindra also launched something tangible. The BE 6 Batman Edition is priced at ₹27.79 lakh (ex-showroom) and limited to 300 units. Deliveries start on September 20, which happens to be International Batman Day.
It comes finished in satin black with gold accents, featuring numerous Bat logos both inside and out, as well as themed lighting details. Underneath, it features a 79kWh battery, a range of 682km, and a rear-mounted motor producing 286bhp and 380 Nm. It charges via 7.2kW or 11kW AC chargers, though these are optional extras.
Verdict
Mahindra has set the tone for its SUV future. The NU_IQ platform promises global competitiveness, the Vision concepts preview exciting directions for the Thar, Scorpio, and XUV families, and the BE 6 Batman Edition gives enthusiasts something to park in their garages today. 2027 is when most of this vision becomes reality, but for now, a Dark Knight is roaming the streets.
