MG Launches their flagship SUV: Majestor replaces the Gloster; upsized, sharper and bolder

Say hello to MG Majestor, MG’s flagship D-segment SUV that replaces the Gloster. This full-size SUV comes with a twin-turbo diesel engine with two variants—2WD and 4WD—making it a very capable off-roader with three rows of seating. Here’s more you have to know:

Exteriors

The Majestor gets the bold mosaic grille, LED DRLs reminiscent of ‘dragon eyes’, triple beam headlights, and connected taillights. Standing tall and wide among its rivals, this SUV measures 1870mm in height, 2016mm in width, boasting a ground clearance of 219mm and an impressive 810mm of water wading capacity. It rides on 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in chunky all-terrain tyres, built on a ladder frame chassis.

At the rear, alongside the connected LED taillights, there is prominent ‘MG Majestor’ badging, and dual exhausts. Protective claddings run all around the vehicle, underscoring its credentials as a rugged off-roader perfect for camping trips.

Interiors

Inside, the Majestor offers a spacious, luxurious, and feature-loaded cabin. It comes equipped with a 12-way adjustable driver seat and an 8-way adjustable passenger seat, both featuring ventilation and massage function. Drivers are treated with a fully-digital instrument cluster, complemented with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display supported by wireless Android Auto and CarPlay. Notably, there are no physical controls for media, and audio is delivered through a premium 12-speaker JBL sound system.

The center console features dual wireless chargers alongside dual dials for the drive mode selectors and 4WD selector. A large panoramic sunroof floods the cabin with light, though it can heat up the sophisticated, all-black interior. Nevertheless, the interior maintains a premium feeling thanks to high-quality leather, soft-touch materials and ambient dashboard lighting.

As a three-row SUV, it is available in both six-seater and seven-seater configurations. While the middle row features captain-seats, the 4x4 variant is a strictly seven-seater with a middle-row bench. Boot space stands at a practical 343-liters even with the third row in place.

When it comes to safety, the Majestor is equipped with Level 2 ADAS, six airbags, 360-degree cameras, hill-hold assist, hill-descent assist, and advanced triple locking differentials.

Powertrain

Under the hood, the Majestor is powered by a 2-litre, four-cylinder, twin-turbo diesel engine that produces 212bhp and a whopping 478Nm of torque. This unit is paired with an eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Prices and Rivals

The MG Majestor 4x2 (available as six-seater and seven-seater) start at ₹40.99 lakh ex-showroom, while the 4x4 (sevens-seater only) is priced at ₹44.99 lakh. At this price point, it goes head-to-head with the Toyota Fortuner, Volkswagen Tayron R-Line, Skoda Kodiaq, and Jeep Meridian.
