Mini Cooper S Victory Edition launched at Rs 57.5 lakh

Mini has launched the Cooper S Victory Edition in India at Rs 57.5 lakh (ex-showroom). It is being brought in as a full import and will be available in limited numbers. Bookings had opened earlier this year. This special edition draws inspiration from the classic Mini that won the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally, and most of the changes are cosmetic.

Rally-inspired design touches

The Victory Edition gets a Chilli Red exterior with contrasting white stripes running from the bonnet to the tailgate. There are ‘52’ decals on the doors, referencing the race-winning car, along with ‘1965’ badges on the tailgate and pillars. Other highlights include a white roof option, 18-inch alloy wheels, a roof spoiler and a central exhaust. The car also comes with the John Cooper Works styling package, featuring blacked-out trim and badges.

Cabin with commemorative details

Inside, the theme continues with multiple references to the 1965 win. The steering wheel, centre armrest and door sills get ‘1965’ branding, while the infotainment system displays graphics inspired by the original rally car. The cabin also features powered sports seats, a head-up display, a panoramic glass roof, a Harman Kardon sound system, and wireless smartphone connectivity. Level 1 driver assistance features are included as well.

No change to performance

Mechanically, the Victory Edition remains unchanged from the standard Cooper S. It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 201bhp and 300Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. Mini claims a 0 to 100kmph time of 6.6 seconds and a top speed of 242kmph. Adaptive suspension and upgraded brakes are part of the package.

The takeaway

The Victory Edition focuses on heritage rather than performance upgrades. It adds visual and thematic elements to an already familiar package. For buyers, the appeal will largely hinge on exclusivity and a connection to Mini’s rally history.
