Morgan Supersport 400 Debuts With 402bhp: Most Powerful Moggie Ever!

Morgan has always done things differently. While most modern sports cars chase lap times with giant wings, touchscreens and complicated tech, Morgan has stayed loyal to a simpler idea — lightweight performance wrapped in timeless design. Its latest creation, the new Supersport 400, sticks to that philosophy, but adds a serious dose of pace.

This is now the quickest and most powerful regular-production Morgan the company has ever built, and it takes the brand into territory usually occupied by much more modern sports cars.

At its heart sits BMW’s familiar 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six petrol engine, better known as the B58. It is an engine enthusiasts already know well from cars like the Toyota Supra and several BMW M Performance models, and in the Supersport 400, it produces 402bhp and 500Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox.

Some traditionalists may still wish for a manual, but Morgan says the automatic setup helps unlock the full potential of the car while keeping it usable for everyday driving.

The big story here is not just power, but weight. The Supersport 400 tips the scales at only 1,170kg, which is remarkably light by modern standards. That gives it a very strong power-to-weight ratio and allows it to sprint from 0 to 100kmph in just 3.6 seconds. Flat out, it will go on to 290kmph — figures that place it firmly in proper high-performance sports car territory.

Morgan has also worked heavily on the chassis to make sure the extra performance is matched by sharper handling. The car comes with a Dynamic Handling Pack as standard, bringing 24-way adjustable dampers, updated suspension settings and improved geometry for better stability and control. Buyers can also opt for a limited-slip differential for a more involving driving experience, especially on fast road drives or track days.

Visually, it still looks unmistakably like a Morgan. The long bonnet, flowing wings and low-slung cabin remain, preserving that classic silhouette the brand is known for. But there are functional upgrades too. New lightweight forged 19-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres improve grip and response, while redesigned front wing vents help manage airflow around the engine bay. There is also a new sports exhaust system that promises a louder and richer soundtrack to match the performance.

Inside, Morgan has tried to strike a balance between tradition and modernity. The cabin gets hand-finished leather, Alcantara detailing and bespoke stitching, while redesigned analogue dials and a machined aluminium gear selector add to the sense of occasion. It still feels handcrafted rather than overly digital, which is exactly what buyers here will want.

In the UK, prices start at £112,965, which works out to around ₹1.28 crore before taxes and import duties. That makes it expensive, but Morgan buyers are rarely shopping with logic alone.

The Supersport 400 is not trying to compete with mainstream performance cars on features or technology. Instead, it offers something far more emotional — classic design, lightweight engineering and serious straight-line pace in a package that feels rare and personal. In a world full of fast cars, that might matter more than outright speed.
