Kia is gearing up to unveil the next-generation Seltos and while the current model already has a strong fan base, the new one seems determined to raise its game. Here is everything worth knowing before the covers come off.
1. A Sharper, Squarer Look
The upcoming Seltos appears more upright and confident. The bonnet sits flatter, the stance looks wide, and Kia’s familiar face design has been reinterpreted with a cleaner split headlamp layout. Expect vertically stacked LED DRLs and sleeker surfacing. At the rear, there are connected C-shaped tail lamps and flush door handles that help modernise the profile.
2. Interior Takes A Big Step Up
Inside the cabin, things seem far more premium and contemporary. The biggest change is a twin 12.3-inch screen setup that replaces the earlier, smaller layout. Slimmer AC vents, redesigned controls and more thoughtful switchgear signal a significant refresh. It feels more aligned with Kia’s newer global models rather than an update of the outgoing car.
3. More Features For Tech-Hungry Buyers
Higher variants are expected to get a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, ventilated seats and possibly a powered front passenger seat with the handy boss mode function. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also expected, although the final specification will be confirmed at launch. Safety equipment could include multiple airbags, ESC hill assist, a 360-degree camera, and level 2 driver assist tech.
4. Familiar Engines With A Possible Wild Card
Expect the same 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-turbo petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel options carried over, paired with the manual torque converter, CVT DCT and iMT gearboxes depending on the variant. Performance figures will be announced at the reveal, but they should remain similar to today, meaning power between 113bhp and around 158bhp with torque ranging from roughly 144Nm to 253Nm. A strong hybrid variant is being whispered about, but there is no confirmation yet for India.
5. Expected Price And Rivals
The next-generation Seltos is expected to start around Rs 11.30 lakh and stretch to roughly Rs 20 lakh ex-showroom. It will continue competing against the usual suspects, including the Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate and now the Tata Sierra.
Final Word
The Seltos has been one of the segment’s big success stories and this update looks more evolutionary than radical. Still, the design tech and feature upgrades should be enough to keep it relevant and competitive in a space that is getting more crowded, newer and noisier by the month.
