Porsche 911 GT3 992.2 gets the Manthey track makeover

There is always someone who looks at a Porsche 911 GT3 and says This could go quicker. That someone is usually Manthey Racing. The long-standing Porsche partner is back with a fresh performance package for the updated 992.2 GT3. The idea is simple. More grip. More confidence. More lap time. And crucially, the same warranty.

The powertrain stays untouched, which means the same screaming flat six revs beyond 9,000rpm and pushes this GT3 beyond 300kmph. Manthey focuses instead on how the car tears through corners. The underbody has been reworked. The front spoiler lip is longer. The rear diffuser gains bigger fins. The rear wing is larger and wears a Gurney flap. With the right setting,s the downforce jumps from a solid number to a serious one. A minimum of roughly 355kg and up to about 540kg, pushing the tyres into the tarmac.

Braking hardware stays stock, but the lines are now braided stainless steel for better consistency on long, hot laps. Manthey also suggests the optional forged wheels, which lower unsprung mass by about 6kg. Lighter wheels. Quicker reactions. A happier driver.

The suspension is fully adjustable with stiffer front springs by about ten per cent to handle that extra aero push. Compression and rebound can be changed tool-free. Proper track day bragging rights.

What does all of this translate to? A 6 minute 53 second lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife. That makes the new car 2.8 seconds quicker than the older Manthey GT3. Porsche adds that this was done in conditions that were not exactly perfect. Which is a polite way of saying there is more to come.

So, yes, the Manthey kit will cost extra. The last one demanded around ₹48 lakh over the standard GT3 price in the United States market equivalent. Expect something similar for this version when numbers are officially announced. Still a lot less than stepping up to a GT3 RS.

The conclusion is easy. If you own a 992.1 Manthey GT3, pretend you never read this. If you don't, this new upgrade is calling out to every track day regular who believes the stopwatch never lies.
