Porsche Taycan Turbo GT With Manthey Kit Sets New Nürburgring Record

The Nürburgring Nordschleife has become the ultimate battleground for performance EVs, and Porsche has just reminded everyone why it remains one of the benchmarks in the business.

A Porsche Taycan Turbo GT equipped with the new Manthey Kit has officially set a new lap record for electric executive cars around the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife, clocking an astonishing 6:55.533-minute lap. Behind the wheel was Porsche development driver Lars Kern, who also set the previous Taycan Turbo GT record back in 2023. That new lap time is over 12 seconds faster than the previous Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach Package and more than nine seconds quicker than the previous record holder in the category. In Nürburgring terms, that is a massive improvement.

Manthey Touches An EV For The First Time

Manthey kits are already legendary among Porsche enthusiasts. Developed by Manthey Racing in close collaboration with Porsche, these upgrades typically transform already capable GT cars into proper track weapons. Until now, they were reserved for combustion-powered models like the 911 GT3 and GT3 RS.

This marks the first time Porsche has introduced a Manthey Kit for one of its electric performance cars. And judging by the lap time, it clearly works.

The kit has been developed specifically for the Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach Package and brings major aerodynamic, suspension and powertrain upgrades. Porsche says total downforce has increased by more than three times compared to the standard car. At 200kph, the car now produces around 310kg of downforce, while at top speed, that figure climbs to approximately 740kg.

Visually, the changes are impossible to miss. There’s a much larger rear wing, aero discs on the wheels, additional bodywork tweaks and a more aggressive overall stance designed to maximise stability at extreme speeds.

More Power, More Grip, More Speed

It’s not just the aero doing the heavy lifting here. Porsche has also revised the suspension setup and optimised the drivetrain for track use. The Taycan Turbo GT with Manthey Kit now develops 805bhp, which is 27bhp more than the standard version. In Attack Mode, output reportedly climbs as high as 979hp. In launch mode the power remains unchanged at a colossal 1030bhp

The car runs on specially developed Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tyres wrapped around lightweight Manthey wheels, while the chassis electronics and driving dynamics systems have all been recalibrated specifically for the package. According to Lars Kern, the difference on track is immediately noticeable. He described the upgraded Taycan as offering significantly more stability and confidence through high-speed corners and under heavy braking — exactly what you need when attacking one of the most intimidating circuits in the world.

The EV Performance War Is Heating Up

The record also highlights just how rapidly the EV performance race is escalating.

In recent years, manufacturers like Tesla, Xiaomi, BYD and Lucid have all targeted Nürburgring records to prove the performance potential of electric cars. Porsche, however, continues to show that raw speed alone isn’t enough — consistency, chassis balance and track durability still matter massively on a circuit as punishing as the Nordschleife. The Manthey Kit for the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package will be available as a retrofit package from June 2026. And honestly, a sub-seven-minute electric sedan around the Nürburgring still sounds completely ridiculous. In the best possible way.
