Can this Facelifted Kia Dethrone the Ertiga?

Kia has launched a facelift for the Carens by adding nine new trims to the MUV. These trims bring the total toll of the variants up to 30. This facelift increases both the features and the price of the vehicle. The most significant change is the option of a new diesel engine in the Carens. What else has changed, and what is the price? Read ahead to find out!

The New Additions and Their Price

Kia has added seven new models to the Carens. These are Premium, Premium (O), Prestige, Prestige+, Luxury, and Luxury+. While the Carens starts at ₹10.52 lakh (ex-showroom), you can get the new facelifted models at ₹12.11 lakh. The top variant of the X-line with new features added is priced at ₹19.67 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Engine Offering

Kia has added a diesel option to the Karens with this facelift. The engine added is the U2 1.5 VGT diesel engine. The performance numbers of this engine are yet to be released. It is available with a 6-speed manual transmission. This will now be an option with the 1.5L turbo petrol and the 1.5L diesel engines Carens already had.

New Color

Kia has added a new Pewter Olive colour to Carens's palette. This can be bought in all variants except the X-line. This brings the total number of colour options to 12, with eight single-tone, three dual-tone and an X-line exclusive matte-grey.

X-line gets more X factors

The already feature-rich X line has gotten even better with this facelift. These features are a dashcam, all windows auto up & down with voice commands, and expanded 7-seating options.

Features for other models

With this facelift, Kia has upgraded the 120W charging port to a 180W one in all models. The following models also got some updates:

Premium (O) trim now gets Keyless entry, an 8" D/Audio system, a Shark Fin antenna, a Steering wheel-mounted remote control, burglar alarms, and better safety features.

Prestige (O) variant now has an option of 6 or 7 seats, a leatherette-wrapped gear knob, an intelligent key with push-button start, an LED Rear Combination lamp, an LED DRL, and a positioning lamp.

Prestige +(O), which comes with a 7DCT or 6AT, now gets a Sunroof, LED Map lamp, and room lamp.

Does the Carens Facelift, with its seven new variants, have enough to take the MUV market by storm?
