MG Hector Blackstorm Edition Launched: Tata’s Homework?

MG Motors has introduced the Hector Blackstorm Edition in India, starting at ₹21.24 lakh (ex-showroom). This follows the launch of Blackstorm Editions for the MG Gloster and MG Astor, making the entire SUV lineup available in this special edition.

More Options, More Choice

The Blackstorm Edition might seem like an all-black offering based on the name, but it features a unique combination of Starry Black paint with fiery red accents. This approach is similar to the Dark Red edition offered by other manufacturers. The Blackstorm Edition's launch comes amid a trend of special editions in the SUV segment, with the recent introduction of the Mahindra XUV700 Napoli Black edition. This left the Hector and Alcazar as the only remaining contenders without a dark-themed variant.

Visual Tweaks

The Blackstorm Edition gets a makeover with darkened chrome replacing the usual shiny chrome elements on the grille and MG logo. Additionally, it boasts blacked-out headlamp bezels, dark chrome inserts in the skid plates, and red accents on the side mirrors and headlamp housing.

On the Sides and Back

The sides feature a Blackstorm emblem, piano black roof rails, side body cladding with a chrome finish, and 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels with red brake calipers. The rear end echoes the front with dark chrome inserts in the skid plates and smoked LED taillights with a connected blade design.

Stepping Inside

The dark theme continues inside the cabin, complemented by red accents and ambient lighting. The Blackstorm Edition retains India's largest 14-inch infotainment screen and adds a new gunmetal grey center console. Both front seats come with Blackstorm emblems embroidered on the headrests.

Engine Options

The Hector Blackstorm Edition carries forward the existing engine options: a 1.5L petrol CVT automatic producing 143hp@5000rpm and a 2.0L diesel 6-speed manual producing 170hp@3750rpm. Prices start from ₹21.25 lakh and go up to ₹22.76 lakh (ex-showroom). Based on the Shine Pro variant, the Blackstorm Edition commands a premium of ₹25,000.
