Sixth Generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class Launched at Rs 55 lakhs

German auto-manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has revealed the prices of its highly anticipated C-Class sedan in India. The C-Class sedan will be available in one petrol and two diesel options. The prices start at Rs 55 lakh for the C200 petrol variant and go up to Rs 61 lakhs for the top of the line C300d variant.

Exteriors

The design language of the 2022 C-Class is quite evident from the flagship S-Class. The slim trapezoidal headlamps, droopy tail lamps, floating rear design and the signature Mercedes silhouette on the front make it look quite elegant and sporty. In terms of dimensions, the C-Class is 65mm longer and 10mm wider. Moreover, the wheelbase is 25mm longer, and ground clearance is up by 7mm. The C200 and C220d get 17-inch wheels, wherein the C300d runs on the sporty 18-inch alloy wheels. The legacy of the curvy floating design language remains intact with the new C-class.

Interiors and Features

The Mercedes-Benz has transformed the interiors to the next level. The interior design layout seems to be wholly borrowed from the S-Class. One would be seriously impressed with the visual pizazz with the plushness. The abundance of leather and the availability of some snazzy ambient lighting gives a luxury appeal to the cabin. The C-Class sedan features a massive 11.9-inch infotainment display that is little angled towards the driver. It uses MBUX software that comes brimmed with connected car features like integrated navigation, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also gets a one-touch operating electric sunroof that makes the cabin feel even more roomy and airy. The C-Class also comes with a Car-to-X system that notifies and updates about road conditions, accidents and traffic alerts.

Engine and Transmission

The 2022 C-Class comes with one petrol engine and two diesel engine options. The C200 petrol version comes with a 1.5-litre, turbocharged, four-cylinder engine that generates 204hp of power and 300Nm of torque. The claimed efficiency figure of C200 is 16.9km/l. The C-220d gets a 2-litre turbo-diesel engine that churns out 200hp power and 440Nm of torque. The claimed efficiency figure for C-220d is a respectable 23km/l. On the other hand, the C-300d also gets the same 2-litre turbo diesel engine that churns out 265hp of power and 550Nm of torque that can accelerate from 0-100 in 5.7 seconds. All the engines are mated to a 9-speed transmission unit and get a 48-V mild-hybrid system.

Prices and Rivals

The price of the C-200 starts at Rs 55 lakhs. In comparison, the C-220d comes at Rs 56 lakhs. The cost for the top-of-the-line C-300 goes all the way up to Rs 61 lakhs. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class will go up against BMW 3-series, Audi A4, Jaguar XE and Volvo S60.
