Updated Citroen C3 Aircross Unveiled for Europe

Citroen has unveiled the Citroen C3 Aircross for the European market. The SUV now features both ICE and EV versions. It is visually and mechanically different from its Indian counterpart, as it is based on the Smart Car Platform instead of the CMP architecture.

Visual Appeal

The new C3 Aircross tries to set itself apart from the C3 with a boxier and more confident look. It is wider and sits higher than its hatchback version. The front is not as recognisable as the signature Citroen, which looks like the Indian model mainly because of its grill. The LED headlamps add to the SUV look. The rear has C-shaped LEDs and carries over the boxy look from the front.

The Changes

There are a variety of changes. Starting with the length, it is 4.39 meters long and has the option of 3 rows of seats. It now has standard features like a head-up display and rear parking sensors. The infotainment system gets a smartphone mount. The top variants will get a 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, automatic headlights, and a rear parking camera.

Powertrain options

We have not gotten any details about the engine that will power the C3 Aircross. That being said, the C3 gets two options: a 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine, capable of producing 91hp mated to a 5-speed manual and a 3-cylinder mild-hybrid engine coupled with a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The eC3, on the other hand, has a single electric motor that produces 136hp of power with a 400km range.

India Launch

India already has its version of the C3 Aircross that starts at 9.99 Lakh for manual and 12.85 Lakh for automatic. The eC3 Aircross, which will serve as the electric version of the C3 AIrcross, is expected to launch by the end of this year. Citroen is currently focusing on launching the Basalt SUV.
