Skoda has made it official that Kushaq’s Monte Carlo trim will go on sale in India on May 9, 2022. Once it goes on sale, expect it to get slotted above the Style variant to become the flagship trim in the Kushaq lineup. Needless to say, it will come with a slightly premium sticker price as well. This special edition of this popular compact SUV has been in the works for quite some time now.
Looking back at Skoda’s past, it wouldn’t be wrong to assume that the Kushaq Monte Carlo will be paired with both the engines - 1.0 TSI and the 1.5 TSI with both manual and automatic choices. Expect it to carry a price tag between the ₹ 18 lakh to ₹ 19.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India) mark.
Exterior
Skoda’s Monte Carlo editions follow a particular design theme and the Kushaq will be no different. On the outside, the Kushaq Monte Carlo will boast of a blacked-out treatment for the bumper inserts, roof, grille and wing mirrors. The chrome elements will be completely murdered out. In the same manner, the front and rear skid plates will also wear a black shade. Expect Skoda to garnish the front fenders and the tailgate with prominent “Monte Carlo” badging. The alloys are also expected to receive the same “Monte Carlo” treatment.
Interior
Like the exterior, expect the cabin of the Kushaq to don the same black treatment synonymous with Monte Carlo editions. While the layout of the dashboard will be the same, the overall aesthetics will receive a sporty touch with the help of black interior with red accents and new upholstery.
Since it will be positioned above the style trim, all the features of this top-spec variant are expected to get carried over. Skoda might surprise us by throwing a fully digital instrument cluster into the mix, which the VW Taigun gets but the Kushaq misses out on.
Engine options
The Skoda Kushaq Monte Carlo edition will be offered with a choice of the same 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder TSI engine that we have already witnessed on other standard trims. The former puts down 113 bhp and 175 Nm of peak torque while the latter being an enthusiast’s choice dishes out 148 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque.
