Tata Avinya Concept:An Amalgamation Of A Crossover, MPV and SUV On A Pure EV Gen-3 Architecture

Indian auto giant Tata Motors has taken another leap forward to transit to sustainable mobility by showcasing its Avinya concept. The Avinya concept is based on fully electric modular Gen-3 architecture. The word Avinya is derived from the Sanskrit language that stands for 'Innovation'. The concept is indeed justice to Tata's new design philosophy, wherein futuristic features and minimalistic interiors back up an uncompromising vision for electric mobility. Let's now step into the future where Tata's core attitude revolves around Minimizing interiors, Maximizing range, and Optimizing performance.

Design and Styling

The design of the Avinya concept is inspired by a catamaran, wherein it looks quite futuristic and practical at the same time. Tata claims the concept Avinya combines the essence of a premium hatch with the luxuries and versatility of an SUV and packs the roominess and functionality of an MPV. The overall new silhouette and design language are very compelling. The distinctive 'T' shaped  Tata logo is stretched out on the front as well as on the rear of the car that houses an LED light bar. This new Tata logo will come into life in all electric vehicles based on the Gen-3 platform. Move to the sides, the 'Butterfly' doors instantly grab the attention. Moreover, the 22-inch wheels are placed on the corners, thereby increasing the wheelbase that liberates an ample amount of space on the inside. Furthermore, one would not find traditional ORVMs because they are now replaced with digital screens and rear view cameras. The overall styling and design language emphasize the futuristic appeal.

Interiors and Features

The philosophy of minimalism design is even more amplified on the inside. The product can occupy five occupants with ease. The rear seating is designed to make you feel at home with a large comfortable couch. Moreover, the front bucket seats can also swivel, making the ingress and egress relatively easy. Such innovative functional bits enhance the overall experience. Tata ambitiously emphasizes using sustainable materials, wherein they will obey the "Second Life" concept to mix a recycled plastic resin with local mineral waste to create a new material that is unique, local, naturally coloured, and capable of being formed with a rich visual texture. Tata Motors also claims that they will be using responsible manufacturing processes and are looking to source materials locally to reduce their carbon footprint. At a time when manufacturers are providing massive infotainment screens to lure their customers, Tata has taken the other way round; wherein they would enable voice commands to control all functions. The navigation unit will be mounted on the centre of the steering wheel. There is also a provision for an aroma dispenser and an individual sound system for each passenger.

Platform

The pure EV Gen-3 architecture platform offers a flexible design language with enhanced performance and efficiency. Tata Motors are tight-lipped about the specifications of the Avinya concept. Still, they have assured that the battery used will support an ultra-fast charge capability, in line with the infrastructure evolution, pumping a minimum 500 kms range in under 30 minutes. Tata also claims that it will use lightweight materials without even compromising high structural safety, which helps minimize the overall mass, leading to good weight management. Tata Motor's ambitious Avinya concept will make it into production by 2025. How much of the claimed promises will be retained is the test of time, but for now, just like you, we are also looking extremely excited to see it in production.
