Aprilia SR 175 hp.e | First Ride Review

The Aprilia SR 175 hp.e isn’t here to play safe—it’s a scooter with fire in its veins. With sharp styling, a punchy 175cc engine, and Aprilia’s unmistakable DNA, it’s built to thrill, even if it makes a few sacrifices along the way.

Design & Build Quality

When you think Aprilia, you think sporty—and the SR 175 hp.e delivers that unmistakable DNA. Its stance is aggressive, sharp, and premium. Our test scooter came in Matte Prismatic Dark, a purple shade that shimmers green under sunlight, while the other option, Glossy Tech White, adds a more classic look.

Build quality is solid across the board, with tactile switchgear and neatly finished panels. Carbon fibre-like design touches appear around the switchgear and exhaust, but in India’s hot climate, these faux elements are prone to scratching and don’t always age well. Design-wise, it’s very recognisably Aprilia, with few surprises, but that also means it carries forward the sporty scooter look people expect.

Features

The Aprilia SR 175 hp.e gets a 5.5-inch TFT display, offering clear readouts for speed, fuel, and trip data. Under the seat, you’ll find storage that’s adequate for daily items, though it won’t swallow a full-face helmet. A small light is provided for visibility in the dark, and there’s a USB charging port to juice up your devices on the go.

Ergonomics & Comfort

The riding position is a blend of upright and sporty—comfortable enough for city commutes but always nudging you towards a more aggressive posture. Unfortunately, the suspension setup is stiff. With telescopic forks up front and a single adjustable rear shock, you’ll feel every bump and imperfection on our uneven roads. This tuning does help handling, but comfort takes a hit.

The split seat design looks sporty but compromises on comfort for both rider and pillion. The footboard is compact, which taller riders may find cramped during longer commutes.

Performance

The SR 175 hp.e is powered by a 174.7cc single-cylinder engine, producing 13 bhp at 7,200 rpm and 14.14 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. On paper, it’s promising, but in practice, the claimed top speed of 95 kmph feels underwhelming for a 175cc scooter—you might expect triple digits here.

In the city, it feels adequately quick, refined, and vibration-free, but above 75 kmph, the engine note gets coarse and noisy. It’s not the most effortless scooter for highways, but for zipping through traffic, it works well.

Braking & Handling

The scooter rides on 14-inch wheels, which lend confidence in corners and make it easy to flick around in traffic. Braking is handled by 220 mm ventilated front discs from ByBre paired with ABS. Stopping power is strong and predictable, although the tyres could use better grip in the wet. On dry roads, however, grip is sufficient.

Despite its size, the SR 175 hp.e hides its weight well and feels nimble in tight spaces—a true plus for urban riders.

Fuel Efficiency & Practicality

This Aprilia isn’t built with frugality in mind. During testing, it returned 28–32 kmpl, which isn’t ideal for a daily commuter. Coupled with its 6-litre fuel tank, you’ll be refuelling often if you ride hard.

Storage is limited, with the under-seat compartment failing to accommodate a full-face helmet. That said, the light and USB charger are useful touches.

Conclusion

The Aprilia SR 175 hp.e is a scooter that wears its sporty character proudly. It corners sharply, looks flashy, and feels premium in every interaction. Young riders and enthusiasts will enjoy the aggressive design, performance, and attention-grabbing colours.

However, compromises are evident—low mileage, limited comfort, a small footboard, and stiff suspension. Older buyers or those seeking practicality may find it hard to live with as a daily commuter.

Still, if you want a stylish, aggressive, and fun scooter that carries Aprilia’s racing DNA into everyday, the SR 175 hp.e makes a strong case for itself.
