Hyundai Creta Electric | Long term report #3

Can India’s favourite mid-size SUV recreate its magic in an electric avatar?

8/10

For

Ride comfort, refined drivetrain, effortless city usability, intuitive cabin

Against

No wireless CarPlay/Android Auto, lacks sense of occasion, patchy fast-charging

Spend enough time with the Creta Electric and what stands out isn’t what it does, but what it chooses not to do. It doesn’t try to impress you, it doesn’t demand you change your habits, and it doesn’t constantly remind you that it’s electric. It just slots into your daily life.

That approach defines the car. Where most EVs still feel like a departure, this feels like a continuation. Familiar, predictable, and easy to slot into everyday life.

In the city, it works exactly as you’d expect a Creta to. Performance is more than adequate, but it’s the smoothness that stands out. Power builds cleanly, without spikes or surprises, and in traffic, that makes all the difference. It feels unhurried, yet never lacking.

The ride only reinforces that character. There’s a softness here that suits our roads well, taking the edge off broken surfaces without feeling loose or floaty. You stop reacting to bad roads after a point, which is usually the mark of a well sorted setup.

Refinement, though, is where the shift to electric really shows. The silence changes the way you drive. You’re less rushed, less tense, and over time, that starts to matter more than outright performance.

Inside, it’s typical Hyundai. Everything is logical, intuitive, and easy to use. You settle in quickly and stop thinking about it altogether. But it also plays it safe. In trying not to feel different, it ends up lacking a sense of occasion. The absence of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto remains a clear miss.

Step outside the city and the usual EV realities return. Charging still needs planning, and the infrastructure isn’t always consistent.

But within its intended role, the Creta Electric gets the fundamentals right. It is easy, comfortable, and undemanding in a way that will appeal to a wide set of buyers. You don’t step out thinking about how advanced it is. You just step out less tired. And that, ultimately, is what this car gets right. Not making electric feel special. Just making it feel normal.
