The Tata Curvv EV draws attention. Whether you like coupe SUVs or not, there is no ignoring them. The shape is distinctive, the light signatures are modern, and the whole car feels like a conscious move into new territory. And to its credit, the design grows on you with time.
It has been a month since I took delivery, though the actual time spent with the car has been less than that. The first unit developed a few minor issues. The sunroof let in water during a downpour, the driver’s seat had a slight rock, and the wheel alignment was off. To Tata’s credit, the car was promptly taken back and replaced.
The replacement, however, came with an air conditioning issue. No matter which setting you choose, air continues to flow only through the defogger vents, resulting in a perpetually fogged windscreen, which is not ideal in monsoon traffic.
That said, the fundamentals feel solid. The Curvv EV rides with confidence, stays composed at speed, and delivers strong, effortless performance typical of a well-calibrated electric drivetrain. The cabin insulation could have been better, but the features are plentiful.
It is clear that some interior elements and ergonomics trace their roots back to other Tata models. While this helps with familiarity, it also limits how premium the cabin feels in comparison to some rivals.
Still, as a new chapter for Tata Motors, the Curvv EV brings something genuinely different to the table. With its styling, performance and early responsiveness from the company, it shows promise. A couple more months of testing, fingers crossed.
