4 Upcoming Two-Wheelers Set to Launch in the Second Half of 2026

The second half of 2026 is shaping up to be an interesting one for the Indian two-wheeler market. From a new entry-level sports bike from Yamaha to a more affordable Ather scooter, manufacturers are preparing to bring products across different segments.
Here are four upcoming two-wheelers that could make the most impact when they arrive in the coming months.

Yamaha R2

Yamaha is expected to launch the new YZF-R2 in India soon, and it could be one of the most interesting launches for enthusiasts looking for an affordable, fully faired motorcycle. The R2 is expected to be powered by an all-new 200cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. We expect that this mill will produce around 25hp and 22Nm of torque. It will have the typical high-revving character that Yamaha engines are known for. While Yamaha has not officially revealed the complete specifications or pricing yet, Select dealerships have reportedly started accepting pre-bookings for a token amount of ₹10,000. The R2 is expected to take on motorcycles such as the KTM RC 200 and Hero Karizma XMR. We expect the Yamaha YZF-R2 will be priced somewhere between ₹2 lakh and ₹2.30 lakh (ex-showroom). If Yamaha gets the pricing right, the R2 could be a compelling option for buyers seeking the looks and riding experience of a proper sports bike without spending a fortune.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 440

Royal Enfield is set to launch the new Himalayan 440 on September 4, 2026. Unlike the Himalayan 450, this motorcycle will essentially be a more affordable adventure motorcycle based on the Scram 440 platform. The Himalayan 440 will use the same 443cc, air/oil-cooled, single-cylinder LS 440 engine as the Scram 440. This engine produces 25.4bhp and 34Nm of torque and is paired with a six-speed gearbox. It will be a perfect fit for those who prefer long-stroke character, which makes it particularly suited to relaxed riding and low-speed off-road use. The Himalayan 440 is expected to have a 21-inch front wheel, which should give it a more proper adventure-bike stance and better off-road capability than the Scram 440. In terms of design, the motorcycle is expected to take inspiration from the discontinued Himalayan 411. It could also use the LED headlight setup seen on the Scram 440, while the overall proportions are expected to remain close to the Himalayan 411. The Himalayan 440 is expected to slot between the Scram 440 and Himalayan 450, with an expected price of around ₹2.50 lakh (ex-showroom). This could be an interesting motorcycle for riders who find the Himalayan 450 a little too expensive or powerful for their requirements.

Simple Wave

Simple Energy is also preparing to enter the family scooter segment with its first mainstream family-oriented scooter, set to launch on September 2, 2026. The test mules spotted so far suggest that the scooter will have a practical design with a single-piece seat and a spacious floorboard. It is also expected to feature telescopic front suspension and twin rear shock absorbers. Braking hardware is likely to include a front disc and rear drum setup. The scooter is also expected to get a TFT instrument cluster. The Wave will go up against some well-established names in the segment, including the Ather Rizta, TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak. For Simple Energy, this could be an important product. The company has already made its presence felt with the One electric scooter, but a more practical family scooter could help it appeal to a much wider audience. If the pricing and range are competitive, I think the Wave could be one of the more interesting electric scooters to watch this year. The technical details are not yet revealed, but we think it will get a 2.9kWh/3.5kWh battery and is expected to be priced between ₹1.10 lakh and ₹1.40 lakh (ex-showroom).

Ather Konarc

The Ather Konarc is perhaps the most interesting upcoming launch for buyers looking to buy an affordable electric scooter. It is expected to be based on Ather’s EL platform and will be unveiled on August 29, 2026, at Ather Community Day 2026. The Konarc will reportedly be the first Ather scooter to feature a metal body. More importantly, it is expected to become the brand’s most affordable scooter, with prices likely to fall between ₹1 lakh and ₹1.25 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price point, the Konarc is expected to compete with the more affordable variants of the TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak. For Ather, the Konarc could be a particularly important product. The company has traditionally positioned itself towards the premium end of the electric scooter market, and a more affordable model could help it reach buyers who have so far considered Ather scooters too expensive.
All four of these upcoming two-wheelers target very different buyers, which makes the second half of 2026 particularly interesting. The Yamaha R2 could bring a new option to the entry-level sports-bike segment, while the Himalayan 440 could offer a more affordable route into the adventure-bike space. At the same time, the Simple Wave and Ather Konarc are looking to take on the increasingly competitive electric family-scooter market.
