Moto Guzzi The Trip 500 Revealed: Modern-Classic Roadster produces 48hp

Moto Guzzi has unveiled The Trip, a new 500cc-class roadster that marks a new direction for the Italian motorcycle manufacturer. Unlike the brand's traditional motorcycles, which are known for their longitudinal V-twin engines, The Trip adopts a more contemporary approach with a parallel-twin powertrain and modern-classic styling. Both Moto Guzzi and Aprilia operate under the Piaggio Group, and The Trip is expected to share its engine platform with the Aprilia RS 457 and Tuono 457.

Design And Dimensions

The Moto Guzzi The Trip adopts a modern-classic design that combines traditional styling elements with contemporary detailing. Its rounded LED headlamp incorporates an interpretation of Moto Guzzi's iconic eagle motif, while the sculpted metal fuel tank, clean bodywork and exposed black-finished engine give it a distinctive roadster silhouette.

The motorcycle features a circular 3.6-inch TFT instrument console with smartphone connectivity, while the embroidered model name on the seat adds a distinctive finishing touch. It will be available in three colour options: Black Metropolis, Green Grove and Red Beat. A special edition called The Opening will also be offered.

Despite its mid-capacity positioning, The Trip weighs 180kg and gets a seat height of 790mm. It gets a 15-litre fuel tank, with its relatively accessible seat height and natural riding position intended to make it suitable for everyday use.

Engine And Performance

Moto Guzzi has confirmed that The Trip is powered by a modern parallel-twin engine producing almost 48hp. However, the manufacturer has not yet disclosed its exact displacement, peak torque output or gearbox specifications.

The engine is expected to be derived from the 457cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin unit used by the Aprilia RS 457 and Tuono 457. The Aprilia engine produces 47.6hp at 9,400rpm and 43.5Nm of torque at 6,700rpm, paired with a six-speed gearbox.

If Moto Guzzi carries over these specifications, The Trip could offer similar performance in a more relaxed, roadster-oriented package. However, its final power and torque figures, gearing and engine tuning remain unconfirmed.

The emphasis is expected to be on accessible performance, smooth throttle response and usable low-rev torque rather than outright sportiness. This would suit the motorcycle's modern-classic character and intended mix of city commuting and weekend rides.

Features

The Moto Guzzi The Trip gets a ride-by-wire electronic throttle and three riding modes: Road, Sport and Rain. Road mode is designed for smooth everyday riding, Sport offers a more dynamic throttle response, while Rain is intended to provide greater confidence in challenging conditions.

Other features include a full LED headlamp, a circular 3.6-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity and backlit handlebar controls. Pictogram-based navigation and a quickshifter will be available as accessories.

The motorcycle combines these features with a relatively straightforward riding experience, making it an option for riders looking for modern electronics without an overly complicated package.

Expected Launch And India Availability

The Moto Guzzi The Trip is scheduled to make its public debut at EICMA 2026 in Milan, Italy,. Sales through official Moto Guzzi dealerships are expected to begin in early 2027.

The motorcycle could expand Moto Guzzi's appeal to riders seeking a mid-capacity roadster with classic styling and modern technology. However, an India launch has not been confirmed, and pricing for the Indian market remains unknown.
