Oben Electric has launched its latest electric motorcycle in India, the Oben Rorr Evo, at an introductory price of ₹99,999 for the first 10,000 buyers and ₹1.25 lakh, ex-showroom. It is built on the company's ARX platform and gets a new, more powerful motor, an updated design, and a claimed range of 180km.
Design
The Oben Rorr Evo gets new projector headlamps up front, a redesigned, sharper tail section, a belly pan with air vents, and 3D Oben logos on the side panels. It also gets 4 new colours: Neutron Blue, Pulse Red, Magnetic Black, and Photon White.
Battery and performance
Powering the Oben Rorr Evo is a brand new motor producing 12bhp and a massive 250Nm of wheel torque. The motor is placed centrally and has a chain drive system for efficient power delivery. In terms of on-road performance, it can go from 0 to 40kmph in 3 seconds and has a top speed of 110kmph.
It gets a new 3.4kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack with a claimed IDC range of 180km and a real-world range of 150km. The new battery provides up to two times higher heat resistance compared to regular batteries and has an eight-year battery warranty. The battery can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in 1.5 hours with the Oben port, which is a DC fast charger. The Oben charging network is spread across 68,000+ charging stations, accessible through the Oben mobile app.
Features and hardware
The Oben Rorr Evo gets a five-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity and four ride modes: Havoc, City, Eco, and SmartiQ. The top speed in City and Eco mode is 60kmph, compared to 40kmph on other EV motorcycles in its price range. It gets the longest seat in its segment, with a length of 680mm and a seat height of 780mm.
It is equipped with a telescopic fork up front and a monoshock at the rear, which allows for 200mm ground clearance with 230mm water-wading capacity. It also gets a six-litre in-seat storage and a four-litre storage cubby inside the tank, with two USB Type-A ports.
Pricing and availability
The Oben Rorr Evo is offered at an introductory price of ₹99,999 for the first 10,000 buyers and ₹1.25 lakh, ex-showroom, and the bookings are open with a booking amount of ₹777. Deliveries of the bike will commence from June, and its main competitors are the Matter Aera 5000 and the Ola Roadster X.
