TVS has officially stepped into the adventure-tourer segment with the Apache RTX 300. Priced at an introductory Rs 1,99,000 (ex-showroom Delhi), the bike packs a 300cc single-cylinder motor, adventure-ready looks, and plenty of tech for touring fans.
Adventure Looks That Work
The RTX 300 looks the part with a big visor, integrated front beak, block-pattern tyres, golden inverted forks, and a large exhaust muffler. Its LED headlight with welcome animation is a nice touch, brightening automatically as the speed climbs. TVS offers five colours: Pearl White, Lightning Black, Metallic Blue, Tarn Bronze, and Viper Green. Our pick? Lightning Black – it just works for us.
Features That Make Touring Fun
TVS has loaded the RTX 300 with tech. The 5-inch TFT display supports navigation via phone mirroring, SMS/call alerts, and digital document storage. SmartXonnect tech tracks your last parked location, ride stats, service alerts, and fuel reminders.
Other goodies include cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring, a bidirectional quickshifter, 3-level ABS, 2-level traction control, and four riding modes: Urban, Rain, Tour, and Rally. Each mode adjusts engine response, ABS, and traction control.
The Engine
The all-new RT-XD4 300cc liquid-cooled motor produces 36bhp at 9,000rpm and 28.5Nm at 7,000rpm. It pairs with a six-speed gearbox and a slip-assist clutch. With this power, the bike should feel confident both on highways and winding roads.
Chassis and Suspension
The RTX 300 rides on a split trellis frame with a cast aluminium swingarm. The 41mm inverted front fork and preload-adjustable monoshock offer 180mm travel each. Braking is handled by a 320mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc. Tyres measure 110/80-19 front and 150/70-17 rear, tubeless and with an off-road-friendly block pattern.
The bike weighs 180kg kerb, has 200mm ground clearance, a 12.5-litre fuel tank, and a tall 835mm seat height – worth checking before buying.
Pricing and Rivals
-
Base: Rs 1,99,000
-
Top: Rs 2,14,000
-
BTO: Rs 2,29,000
At this price, the RTX 300 undercuts rivals like the KTM 250 Adventure, Yezdi Adventure, and Suzuki V-Strom SX. Some competitors might be better off-road, others less tech-laden, making the RTX 300 an interesting all-rounder.
Verdict
The TVS Apache RTX 300 is a confident debut in the adventure segment. The under-350cc engine helps keep pricing attractive while promising enough versatility for touring and daily rides. If TVS expands this engine into other formats, it could redefine the brand’s adventure credentials.
