Tata Motors will launch the updated Punch EV on February 20, 2026. This will be the first facelift for the entry-level electric SUV, and while the fundamentals are unlikely to change, the feature list could grow, though. Here is what to expect.
1. Subtle styling tweaks
The front fascia has already been teased. The black strip connecting the headlamps has been removed, giving the nose a cleaner look. It continues with the closed grille and split LED headlamp setup, but the scuff plate design has been revised.
The side profile remains largely unchanged, apart from a fresh design for the 16-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, expect connected LED tail lamps similar to the updated ICE Punch, along with a tweaked bumper. A new bright yellow shade could also join the colour palette.
2. Mildly refreshed interior
Inside, changes are expected to be evolutionary. The layout should remain familiar, but Tata could introduce new upholstery themes and finishes. Extended thigh support for the seats, as seen on the updated ICE Punch, is likely to make its way here. The 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, two-spoke illuminated steering wheel, rotary gear selector and voice-enabled sunroof should continue.
3. ADAS could arrive
One of the biggest additions could be an ADAS suite. Features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert are expected. If offered, this would significantly strengthen the Punch EV’s safety proposition in the entry electric space.
4. Possible range optimisation
The facelift is expected to retain the existing battery options.
- 25kWh battery
- 315km claimed range
- roughly 81bhp
- 114 Nm
- 35kWh battery
- 421km claimed range
- roughly 120 bhp
- 190Nm
While battery capacities may remain unchanged, Tata could optimise software and efficiency to deliver a small increase in usable range.
5. Powered driver seat
The Punch EV has always been feature-rich but has lacked a powered driver's seat. That could change with the facelift. Ventilated front seats are already included in the package, and adding electric adjustment would further improve comfort.
Expected price and rivals
The current Punch EV is priced between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 14.44 lakh ex-showroom. The facelifted version is expected to range between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh. It will continue to rival the Citroën eC3 and will also overlap with models such as the MG Windsor EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, and the Tata Motors Nexon EV.
The takeaway
The Punch EV is already one of the more complete entry-level electric SUVs on sale. This facelift appears focused on refinement rather than reinvention. Updated styling, added tech and possibly ADAS could make it an even stronger value proposition.
Pricing will decide how compelling it really becomes.
