For years, Hyundai’s Alcazar diesel variants were denied what Indian car buyers seem to want almost more than a fuel gauge — a panoramic sunroof. That’s now changed.
Hyundai has introduced a new Corporate trim on the Alcazar diesel, priced at ₹17.87 lakh, and yes, it comes with a panoramic sunroof. Previously, only petrol variants offered it. It’s available only as a 7-seater and gets both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes.
Here’s the price breakdown (ex-showroom):
Variant | Price |
---|---|
Corporate Diesel 7-seater | ₹17.87 lakh |
Corporate Diesel AT 7-seater | ₹19.29 lakh |
Prestige Petrol DCT 7-seater | ₹18.64 lakh |
What’s new in the Corporate trim?
The new Corporate diesel variant doesn’t just bring a sunroof. It also adds:
-
LED headlamps
-
17-inch alloy wheels
-
Dual-zone climate control
-
Ambient lighting
-
10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
-
Wireless phone charger
-
6 airbags and ESC
All rather useful, and none of it over-the-top.
Under the bonnet, it continues with the 1.5-litre four-cylinder Diesel, producing 116bhp and 250Nm. No changes to output. But yes, some weight has returned — Hyundai had earlier skipped the sunroof to save 50kg, which helped the Diesel deliver over 20 kmpl. The new sunroof may trim that figure a bit.
Petrol DCT is now cheaper too
Separately, Hyundai has also made the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol with the 7-speed DCT more accessible. The gearbox was earlier reserved for the Platinum trim upwards, starting at ₹20.94 lakh. Now, it’s available on the Prestige trim at ₹18.64 lakh, a drop of ₹2.30 lakh.
The turbo-petrol engine continues to produce 158bhp and 253Nm, and while it prefers a relaxed right foot, the DCT makes for fairly smooth urban cruising.
The final word
Hyundai’s Alcazar diesel now offers a panoramic sunroof because buyers clearly wouldn’t stop asking. It’s a bit heavier, a bit costlier, and a bit trendier. The Corporate trim might just hit the sweet spot for those who like torque, three rows and a view of the clouds.
