Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift launched at ₹55.70 lakh

Hyundai has launched the Ioniq 5 facelift in India at ₹55.70 lakh. It is built on Hyundai’s latest Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), and it gets a bigger battery pack, more range, fresher exteriors, and a revised cabin. Here’s everything that has changed in the facelift.

Powertrain

The major change in the facelift is that it is now equipped with a larger 84kWh battery pack, with a maximum ARAI range of 690km. It gets a single motor on the rear axle producing 224bhp instead of 214bhp on the previous Ioniq 5, and 350Nm of torque, and it is capable of hitting 0 to 100kmph in 7.5 seconds.

It can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent SOC in just 18 minutes with a 350kW DC fast charger, and can be fully charged in eight hours using an 11kW home charger.

Exterior

The exterior of the Ioniq 5 gets minor changes compared to the previous model. It gets fresher bumpers at the front and rear, along with a new alloy wheel design. The rest of the design is similar to the outgoing car, with the distinctive Ioniq headlamps at the front and sporty, angular panels on the sides. The rear continues to get the quirky pixelated tail lamps, which are the signature of the Ioniq 5.

Interiors

The major change in this facelift is on the inside, where it gets a new 12.3-inch infotainment screen and digital driver’s display with Hyundai’s latest ccNC (Connected Car Navigation Cockpit) software with a new in-car payment integration, where owners can pay charging fees from the infotainment system. It also gets a new three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel with a four-dot illuminated design, in line with global Hyundai models.

Other features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, and wireless charging for your mobile phone. A new remote immobilisation feature is also on offer for additional safety. It also gets Parking Collision Avoidance Assist and Parking Distance Warning.

Pricing and rivals

The facelifted Hyundai Ioniq 5 has been launched in India at ₹55.70 lakh, and its main competitors are the Kia EV6, BYD Sealion, Tesla Model Y, and the newly launched Mercedes-Benz CLA.
