JSW MG Windsor Inspire Edition launched

JSW MG Motor India has rolled out a special edition of its best-selling EV, the Windsor Inspire Edition, marking one year since the Windsor electrified India’s roads. The milestone comes with a flourish  40,000 units sold, a limited run of just 300 cars, and a proper pat on the back from none other than Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who unveiled it in New Delhi.

The Windsor Inspire Edition keeps its sophistication subtle. The Pearl White and Starry Black dual-tone exterior looks properly upmarket, with R18 black alloys dressed in rose gold accents adding just the right amount of flash. Step inside and you’ll find Sangria Red and Black leather upholstery, 135° reclining “aero lounge” rear seats, and gold detailing that feels more boutique hotel than car cabin.

The features list reads like a wishful thinking exercise turned real. There’s a Skylight Infinity glass roof, wireless illuminated sill plates, and the expected i-SMART connected tech suite. It even gets a ‘Watch Wellness’ app through Jio’s store, perfect if your idea of waiting in traffic involves guided meditation rather than honking.

Power comes from a 38kWh battery paired with a motor delivering 134bhp and 200Nm, enough to whisk this EV from zero to 100 kmph in about 8.8 seconds. Top speed? Around 150kmph, brisk enough for the morning expressway dash.

The pricing is where things get interesting. The Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model starts at ₹9.99 lakh, while outright purchase sits at ₹16.65 lakh (ex-showroom). Running costs hover around ₹3.9 per kilometre, which means your coffee might cost more than your commute. Bookings are now open, with deliveries beginning October 15.

In just a year, the Windsor has gone from a new kid on the EV block to India’s best-selling electric car. The Inspire Edition, then, is a gentle reminder that India’s electric future can be stylish, sustainable, and ever so slightly indulgent.
