JSW MG Motor India has launched its new electric flagship, the MG M9, priced at ₹69.90 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s being positioned as a “Presidential Limousine” under the company’s new luxury division, MG Select. Deliveries begin August 10.
The M9 is a full-size electric people-mover with a 548 km claimed range, a 245 bhp motor, and 350 Nm of torque. It uses a 90-kWh NMC battery, charges from 30 to 80 percent in 30 minutes (with fast charging), and comes with an 11-kW home wall charger and a 3.3-kW portable unit as standard.
Acceleration isn’t the focus here. It’s meant to be smooth, not fast. But with that much torque, it doesn’t struggle either.
Interior and Comfort
The rear seats are the highlight. There’s 16-way adjustment, ventilation, heating, and massage functions—all controlled via a central touchpad armrest. The interior also features a dual-pane sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, and a 13-speaker sound system.
Storage space stands at 1720 litres with the rear seats folded flat. There’s also a small 55-litre frunk.
Fit and finish appear to focus on comfort over drama. Materials include brown leather and suede, though plastic quality in some areas remains to be seen.
Design and Build
The M9 is large. There’s a trapezoidal grille, split LED headlights, and connected tail lamps at the rear. It runs on 19-inch self-sealing ContiSeal tyres, and heated mirrors come as standard.
Colour options are limited to white, black, and grey, which suit its formal character.
Safety
The M9 gets seven airbags, Level 2 ADAS, and is certified with 5-star safety ratings from both EURO NCAP and ANCAP. There’s also a driver monitoring system, and the structure uses a mix of high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel.
Ownership and Warranty
MG offers a lifetime warranty on the high-voltage battery for the first owner and a 3-year/unlimited kilometre warranty on the car itself. Bookings require a ₹1 lakh deposit.
The M9 will be available at 14 MG SELECT Experience Centres in 13 cities, and early customers will get preview access at these locations.
