MG is gearing up to introduce its first D+ segment SUV for India, the MG Majestor, which will also be the brand’s first four-wheel-drive offering in this space. Sold as the MG Rakan in Middle Eastern markets, the SUV is expected to make its global debut there before arriving in India. While MG has kept most details under wraps so far, teasers and information from the international-spec model give us a fair idea of what to expect from the Majestor.
Design
The MG Majestor is expected to feature an upright design, in line with its flagship SUV positioning. Teaser visuals show a boxy silhouette with sharp, angular body lines. Up front, the SUV features a large grille with vertically arranged lighting elements, while the main headlamps appear to be bumper-mounted and rectangular. LED DRLs frame the front end, giving the Majestor a distinctive lighting signature.
From the side, wide plastic-clad wheel arches and a tall stance underscore its off-road focus. At the rear, the SUV features integrated LED tail lamps, a sporty diffuser and dual exhaust outlets. The high ground clearance visible in the teaser further reinforces its rugged positioning.
Off-Road Capability
The Majestor is being positioned as a serious off-road-capable SUV. MG claims the SUV is designed to tackle a variety of terrains, including sand, snow and mud. This suggests a proper four-wheel-drive system rather than an urban-focused AWD setup. The brand has also stated that the Majestor will be the longest, widest and tallest SUV in its segment, which should translate to strong road presence and interior space.
Powertrain
While MG has not officially confirmed engine details for the Indian market, the Majestor is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine. This unit is already used in the MG Gloster and is likely to be paired with an automatic transmission. Given the SUV’s off-road focus, a four-wheel-drive system is expected to be standard or offered on higher variants.
Interior And Features
Given MG’s recent product strategy, the SUV is expected to feature a feature-rich cabin, including a large touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, connected-car technology, and premium upholstery. Comfort and convenience features are also likely to be a strong focus, in line with its D+ segment positioning.
Expected Launch Timeline
MG will reveal more details about the Majestor closer to its launch. The SUV is scheduled to be unveiled on February 12, 2026 and more information regarding variants, features and pricing will follow soon after.
