Porsche is about to drop a long-awaited EV offering - the Cayenne EV in a few weeks, and we now have a first glimpse of the interior on this brand new generation of the Cayenne. More screens, more comfort and an overall much, much better quality than everything else Porsche currently makes seems to be the direction Porsche has taken with the new Cayenne EV.
The centrepiece of the new Cayenne EV is Porsche’s new Flow Display, the largest screen ever fitted to any Porsche ever, fitting since the Cayenne EV promises to be a tech-heavy car. The Flow Display features a curved OLED screen in place of the digital instrument cluster, yes, the kind you see in ultra high-end gaming monitors or televisions, stretching across the dashboard. The central infotainment screen has a built-in curve too, albeit vertically and bends gracefully following the counter of the dashboard itself and then you have the massive flat passenger screen too.
Overall, while certain automakers have moved towards physical buttons again, including the likes of Volkswagen and Ferrari, Porsche has dug its heels deeper into screens, taking up prime real estate while also adding physical switches for climate control and audio controls.
The new Cayenne EV also features a fair few more comfort features as standard, like, for example, electronically adjustable rear seats as standard fitment across the board. It also features what Porsche calls Variable Light Control, an opacity-adjustable panoramic sunroof option that gives passengers the ability to choose between clear and opaque, 40% and 60% opacity, adding to microadjustability to enhance passenger comfort. Incidentally, this is also the largest ever sunroof Porsche has fitted to any vehicle.
Another comfort feature Porsche will now offer on the Cayenne electric is surface heating. This warms not only the seats but also larger areas like the armrests and the door cards. The warming of surface areas is apparently a more efficient way of heating up the cabin as compared to conventional hot air circulation through the climate control vents. Porsche also claims this makes the cabin cosier and more intimate.
Personalisation is another major step that Porsche has taken in the Cayenne family. While certain lucky customers do get the chance to go crazy using the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur and the Sonderwunsch programme, where customers can create true one-off interior designs, even for the mere mortal,s now, Porsche has 13 colour options, including a leather-free textile option with the famous Pepita print.
Of course, as with most new vehicles, the Cayenne electric also brings about AI-powered voice assistants into the fray, along with features like a digital key.
With its debut by late 2025, the Cayenne EV is sure to see a huge surge in EV demand for the Porsche brand, something that has seen a slowdown in recent times wwiththe likes of both the Taycan and the Macan EV putting down slow sales overall across the world. In India, the Cayenne EV should be priced around the Rs 2.5 Crore mark, and will most certainly find takers, especially amongst already existing Porsche owners.
