The Porsche 911 Turbo S has never been short of power or poise, but Stuttgart has decided to plug in a bit of the future anyway. The new flagship 911 now comes with a hybrid twist, a sharper edge, and an eye-watering sticker price of ₹3.8 crore (ex-showroom, India).
Under the familiar, wide-hipped body sits a 3.6-litre twin-turbo boxer engine paired with a 400V T-Hybrid system. Together, they produce 701bhp and a colossal 800Nm of torque, making this the most powerful road-going 911 ever. Two electric turbochargers and an integrated motor in the eight-speed PDK gearbox ensure response that is instant and relentless. The result is 0 to 100 kmph in just 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 322 kmph. That is proper supercar pace.
On the Nürburgring, it is 14 seconds quicker than its predecessor, clocking a time of 7 minutes and 3.92 seconds. That is an impressive feat for a car that is 85kg heavier thanks to its hybrid hardware. Porsche’s engineers seem to have used every gram wisely. The new electro-hydraulic chassis control keeps the Turbo S flatter through corners while revised aerodynamics reduce drag by 10 percent.
Brakes are now the largest ever fitted to a two-door Porsche, with 420mm discs up front and 410mm at the rear. Even the tyres have grown, with 325-section rubber now sitting on the back axle to keep all that hybrid fury in check.
Visually, the Coupe wears subtle hints of exclusivity. Turbonite accents replace chrome, and the titanium sports exhaust sheds nearly 7 kg while adding a deeper, throatier note. Inside, there is carbon weave, Neodyme stitching and every gadget Porsche could think of, from adaptive sports seats to a lap timer.
In essence, the new Turbo S continues where it always left off. It redefines what an everyday supercar really means. Now it is faster, greener and still properly Porsche.
