Huge Money For Tiny Cars | Not Really !

India is a very value-conscious market, wherein every penny is being kept into account by the consumer. Surely, I personally believe tiny cars are very characterful and, in some cases, very fun to drive as well. Though in India, on one side, we have more affordable mass-market small cars, and on the other side, we have expensive small cars that are justified by crazy hearts. Here are our top 9 picks - that belong to huge money for tiny cars.

1) Mini Cooper

Yes, one of the notable cars that people with unconventional tastes cherish is Mini Cooper. At around 40 lakhs, it gets dimensions of less than 4m and a height of around 1.4m, which is less than that of Tata Nexon, costing less than 15 lakhs. It produces 189bhp of power and 280 Nm of torque from a 2.0-l petrol engine. It indeed has a brand reputation and has a fun go-kart-like driving element in it. But it is genuinely hard to justify its proposition for the value-conscious buyer.

2) Mercedes-Benz AMG A45 S

Well, it is one of the most expensive and powerful hatchbacks in India. At around 80lakhs, it has the world's most powerful turbocharged four-cylinder series production engine, with 421hp power and 500Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, with power sent to all four wheels via the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. It comes to India as a CBU, so due to high customs duty on fully imported cars, it becomes one hell of an expensive purchase.

3) Maruti Suzuki Ignis

This could be a lot more debatable. You see, it gives a tough fight to hatchback from its own company- Swift, which gets better space and even better resale value. Both get a 1.2-l 4-cylinder petrol engine. The price difference is also minimal. However, appeal-wise, Ignis cater to enthusiastic premium buyers, whereas Swift ticks all the boxes of mass-market-conscious buyers.

4)  MG Comet

Yes, the definitions of mobility are changing rapidly.,wherein MG's answer to urban mobility comes at a cost wherein one can buy a full-fledged hatchback. At around 10 lakhs, it is even more expensive and smaller than many premium hatchbacks.

5) Mini Cooper SE

Well, justifying the price of the Mini Cooper SE is tough. At Rs around 50 lakhs, it gets a battery pack of just 32.6 kWh, wherein the Volvo XC40 Recharge and recently launched Ioniq 5 gets even double the range and more features with even more competitive pricing. Now, don't comment - you dumb, Volvo XC40 Recharge is around 7-8lakhs more expensive.

6) Toyota Fortuner

Wait, what? Who the hell does Fortuner think of a tiny car?

I do.Not in terms of size - but in terms of value. Fortuner comes at a huge cost nowadays. The top-end variant costs upward of 50 lakhs, and that's quite a lot of money for ................... beep beep beep. I tell you, these Fanboys.

7) Maruti Suzuki S-Presso

Well, for me, S-Presso is so tiny that I can only term it as a body shell on four wheels, and no matter how affordable it is, it is still expensive for whatever I pay. And the masses call it an SUV. Please correct your definitions.

8) Porsche Macan

The price of Macan starts at around 85 lakhs, and if you start speccing it up, it will get a lot more expensive. And to your context, the Price of the Macan S in 2019 was almost similar to that of the Macan now. And mind you, Macan S has a 2.9-litre turbocharged V6 with 354hp of power and 550Nm of torque , whereas Macan gets the same 2.0-l engine as the one in the Audi Q5. Porsches are meant for their driving prowess, and affluent enthusiasts hardly care for anything other than driving pleasure.

9) Bajaj Qute

Well, it is not a car, but it is priced like one. At around 3 lakhs, this quadricycle fares among small hatchbacks. Well, it is currently available in LPG and CNG variants only. What about Petrol? Can I buy one? Is it available for personal use? What do you mean it is an Auto Taxi? Hello, Bajaj Headquarter.
