Bike sales analysis: April 2026

April 2026 has been a relatively calm month for two-wheeler sales in India, with most of the major manufacturers reporting a minor decline in sales figures compared to March 2026. But the year-on-year growth is still high, as most manufacturers are reporting double-digit growth compared to the same time last year. As always, the mass market commuters and scooters remained the breadwinners for most of the manufacturers, and the EV segment also saw minor growth. What remains to be seen is how the market will react to the new 350cc bikes launched by Bajaj Group brands and if that segment will see growth due to the more affordable pricing.

Hero MotoCorp - 5,32,433 units

Hero Motocorp remains to lead the pack in April, with 5,32,433 units sold, which is down 3.6 per cent compared to March 2026. The year-on-year growth, however, is still strong, with Hero reporting an 84.5 per cent increase. The export market also saw a bit of a decline, with them selling 33,653 units compared to 45,693 units in March 2026. Commuters like the Splendor and the HF series dominated the pie, but the main shocker was the Vida series, which continues to do well with 15,230 units sold.

Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India - 4,84,000 units

Honda Motorcycles and Scooters retains its second place, with 4,84,000 units sold. This was down by 5.5 per cent compared to March 2026. The year-on-year sales, however, are up by 14.44 per cent compared to April 2025. The export side of things was significantly better, with 79,600 units sold vs 36,842 units in March. Scooters like the Activa remained the best sellers, and motorcycles like the Unicorn and Shine also contributed to the majority of sales.

TVS Motor Company - 3,86,206 units

TVS Motor Company remains third in the standings, with 4,73,970 units sold. This is a year-on-year increase of 6.82 per cent, while the monthly sales saw a decline of 4.86 per cent compared to March 2026. TVS continued to lead in the EV two-wheeler space, with the iQube series being India’s best-selling electric two-wheeler. On the export side of things, TVS was behind Bajaj, with 1,06,788 units sold vs 1,25,751 units in March.

Bajaj Auto - 2,10,063 units

Bajaj Auto sold 2,10,063 units in April, which is a decline of 4.9 per cent compared to March 2026. The Pulsar series was the best-selling product in the Bajaj lineup, with it contributing almost half of the sales figures. The year-on-year growth was also strong, as the sales were up by 11.3 per cent compared to the same time last year. Bajaj Auto was the largest exporter in the month of April, with a massive 2,29,890 units sold, which is a 40 per cent growth over March 2026. One thing to note here is that these export numbers include both the two-wheeler and the three-wheeler sales.

Royal Enfield - 1,04,129 units

Royal Enfield overtook Suzuki to take fifth place. It sold a total of 1,04,129 units in April, which was a 3.7 per cent growth vs March 2026. The year-on-year growth was also strong, with 37 per cent growth driven mainly by its 350 J-series range. The exports, however, saw a slight decline, with 9,035 units sold vs 11,928 units in March 2026.

Suzuki Motorcycles India - 98,004 units

Suzuki Motorcycles sold 98,004 units in April 2026, recording a modest year-on-year growth of 2.9 per cent vs April 2025, but a decline of 7 per cent over March 2026. The main breadwinner remains to be the Access 125, with the bikes contributing a small amount to the pie. Suzuki exported 19,510 units globally in April vs 22,830 units in the previous month.

Electric two-wheeler segment - 1,48,677 units
