Jawa has updated the 42 in India, it now gets new All Stars styling updates. The latest versions bring a handful of styling and hardware changes while retaining the familiar engine underneath. The updates are aimed at giving the 42 a fresher appearance, improved comfort and a more planted stance on the road. Here is everything you need to know about the updated Jawa 42.
Design
The Jawa 42 gets several styling changes that give it a fresher look. The body panels, side covers and front and rear fenders have been updated, while the bike also gets an upswept exhaust inspired by the unit seen on the Jawa 42 FJ. The updated 42 also rides on new alloy wheels, with wider tyres giving the bike a more substantial stance. It gets a 100-section front tyre and a wider 150-section rear tyre. The Jawa 42 All Stars adds more colour options to the range, with five new colour choices. The overall design remains recognisably Jawa 42, but these changes make the updated bike look fresher than before. Jawa has also increased the thickness of the seats foam to improve comfort on longer rides. The seat height stands at 795mm.
Suspension and Brakes
The updated Jawa 42 continues with telescopic suspension at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. The rear units get preload adjustment, allowing riders to alter the setup depending on the load. Jawa has also made changes to the chassis and swingarm, with the company claiming improvements in strength compared to the previous version. Braking hardware includes a 280mm disc at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear.
Engine and Performance
Powering both the Jawa 42 is a 294.7cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It produces around 27hp and 26.3Nm of torque and is paired with a six-speed gearbox.
Despite the styling and hardware updates, Jawa has retained the familiar engine and gearbox combination, so the biggest changes to the 42 range are centred around its design, comfort and chassis.
