2026 Hyundai Verna launched at Rs 10.98 lakh: what’s new?

Hyundai Motor India has launched the 2026 Hyundai Verna at a starting price of Rs 10.98 lakh (ex-showroom). The latest update brings more than 25 changes across design, features, safety and comfort while continuing with the same petrol engine options. At a time when SUVs dominate the market, Hyundai clearly intends to keep the midsize sedan segment alive.

Updated exterior styling

The 2026 Verna gets a revised front fascia with a new black chrome radiator grille and dual LED projector headlamps. The front and rear bumpers have also been redesigned to give the sedan a sharper and more modern appearance. It rides on new 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and gets two new colour options called Classy Blue and Titan Grey Matte. Dimensionally, the Verna continues to be one of the largest cars in its segment with a length of 4,565 mm, a width of 1,765 mm and a wheelbase of 2,670 mm.

Cabin updates and new features

Inside, the Verna receives a few updates, including a D-cut steering wheel and leatherette seat upholstery. The dashboard features dual 10.25-inch screens that combine the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. Other features include an electric sunroof, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated front seats and a wireless phone charger. Hyundai has also added a Bose eight-speaker sound system, rear window sunshade and a smart trunk feature. Thedriver'sr seat now gets eight-way electric adjustment with memory function, while the passenger seat gets four-way electric adjustment. Boot capacity stands at 528 litres.

More safety and driver assistance

Safety has been strengthened with Level 2 ADAS offering around 20 driver assistance functions. The Verna now also gets seven airbags,s including a centre airbag. Other additions include a surround view monitor, blind spot view monitor, rain-sensing wipers and a built-in dashcam.

Engine options remain unchanged

The Verna continues with two petrol engines. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 113 bhp and is available with a 6-speed manual or IVT automatic. The more powerful 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine produces 158 bhp and 253 Nm and is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.

The takeaway

The 2026 update focuses mainly on design tweaks, additional features and improved safety equipment. With competitive pricing and a strong turbo petrol engine, the Verna continues to be one of the more engaging sedans in its segment. Whether that is enough to tempt buyers away from SUVs remains to be seen.
