Tata Motors has been lately transforming its product offering to the Indian market. We have recently driven the new Tata Punch EV; click here to read the review. Tata Motors stands out as the only manufacturer to provide diesel, petrol, CNG, and EVs in their entry-level segment portfolio. Tata Motors is going to offer an automatic gearbox with a Tiago and Tigor. This is the very first time we would be having an automatic gearbox in a CNG-fitted vehicle. Bookings are now open, and one can book the car with a token amount of Rs 21 thousand. The Tiago iCNG automatic can be purchased in three variants - XTA, XZA+, and XZA NRG. Similarly, the Tigor is available in two variants - XZA CNG and XZA+ CNG. The company has introduced new color options for its Tiago and Tigor models: 'Tornado Blue' for the Tiago, 'Grassland Beige' for the Tiago NRG, and 'Meteor Bronze' for the Tigor.
Tata Motors' CNG technology has a unique proposition. It has twin-cylinder technology, wherein the intelligent placement of the twin cylinders below the luggage areas enables a good storage space. Moreover, it gets a Direct Start in CNG itself, so one does not have to have to worry about switching to CNG mode during drives. This also saves fuel every time you start the car.
Both cars have a 1.2-litre engine that produces 86hp of power, 113Nm of torque under petrol power, 73hp of power, and 95Nm of torque when powered by CNG. The engine comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox, but with the launch of a new automatic gearbox, the car could be had in 5-speed AMT as well. The price launch is expected to happen tomorrow. So, stay tuned!
