Maruti Suzuki Invicto To Be Hybrid Only! | Manufacturer’s First Automatic-Only Car

Maruti Suzuki opened the bookings for its upcoming Toyota Innova sibling, the Invicto at INR 25,000/- With the launch slated for July 5th, Maruti seems to be taking a fully hybrid route for their upcoming MPV.

The powertrain on offer with the Invicto will be the 2.0L Atkinson-cycle petrol hybrid engine, coupled with an electric motor and an e-CVT gearbox. Being a hybrid, the car will not be offered with a manual transmission making the Invicto, Maruti’s first car to be sold without a manual transmission option.

This will also be a whole new price category that Maruti is going to enter, all credit to the expensive & efficient hybrid tech that is being sourced from Toyota. The vehicle could act as a gateway to open higher price categories for future cars.

Maruti has reiterated at multiple instances that the Invicto will be priced higher than INR 20 Lakhs, a pretty clear indication that it will be a hybrid only vehicle. For reference, the Toyota Innova Hycross in its petrol only avatar is priced between INR 18.55-19.45 Lakh.

The Invicto will take birth alongside its Toyota sibling at Toyota’s plant in Bidadi, similar to the production of the Grand Vitara and Urban Cruiser Hyryder duo. With the latest updates of Kia Carnival being discontinued, the Invicto upon launch will only go up against its Toyota sibling. Since the Toyota Innova Hycross’ hybrid variants are priced between INR 25.03-29.99 Lakh, the Invicto can be expected to be priced higher than the Toyota version because of the outsourced hybrid tech.
